From what I've heard, it was a sub par FPS with god graphics. Is this about right?

i had to download some beta driver thing for my graphics card to get doom 3 to work. at first i kept getting white dots and lots of crashes. yesterday was the first day i could really start playing. i quit when i got my hands on the plasma gun. that game scares the shit out of me D:

i could easily get to sleep at 5 AM that night. its just you get pretty jumpy when the hallways are so dark and maggots (big 2 headed jumpy monsters) pop out at you.

The general scare of having monsters jump at you around every corner wears off, but there are still a few truely freaky moments that you are not ready for. Play it and you'll know what I mean.

Plus, you're never attacked by hordes of demons as you were in the orginal Doom, 4-5 max on the screen at once. That's not all that impressive.

How am I a traitor? What ever gave you that idea? And, Xbox is NOT an inferior system, look at PS2, now that is an inferior system - it's showing its age, you can't hide that fact, while Xbox is still strong - have you seen the latest H2 screens? They're right on with what Doom 3 looks like, if not a little less or more. I'll not waste $50 on a game that'll glitch out on my computer every other time I play it. With the Xbox, you'll never have to worry if you'll have enough stuff to play it at it's maximum settings. Nuf said.

Buy games that are ports from the computer on XBox isn't the smartest. You can't get any patches or mods for them (Look at Unreal 2 for christ sakes). Meh, just my opinion

yeah doom 3 is pretty damn scary, graphics are unreal, it bothers me tho how many scripted sequences there are, glad there are gonna be little to no scripted sequences in hl2
