Holy lord... has anyone had the benefit of playing this game on a fast machine? My machine is fast and it is doing decent, but man, the graphics are ahead of it's time... and the terror factor is immense.. holy crap...

anyone else have it? or played it?

I have it, and it runs nearly perfect on my machine. I set something to where the default config to use 256 of my RAM instead of 2, and now it runs perfectly. ^^

I will remember how I did that in a bit.

I herd on techtv that Doom III was coded for graphics that are not yet possible on the hardware we have today, and it cannot run fully optimized at this point in time =p

I wish I could play it, but my computer isn't good enough and I don't have an XBox :( I haven't seen anything about it yet (I haven't had TV or internet for three months), but it sounds cool....

My machine sucks too much to play it.

Yea, you're correct on this one. Wonder how long it'll take to get new hadrware to run it? Probably not too long.

Its one of the best games of all time, seriously. And its actually scary, Ive literally jumped out of my seat a couple times. Right now I just entered hell and the games suddenly gotten like 3 times harder. My machines almost 2 years old (was fairly high end when I got it) and the graphics are still amazing, so you dont have to have a brand new machine to run it. I have a radeon 9700 which works great, and its the graphics card that doom 3 really uses, a 1.5 ghz processer will work fine with a decent graphics card. So unless your on a 4 year old comp or a laptop or something... get this game! It ROCKS

It's very scary, I'm running at about what swooper is running at, only I have a 1.7 ghz, and I have a Geforce 5400 I think... I don't remember... IT IS VERY SCARY. It has taken me out of WC3 for the past week. *GASP* Definately worth the money though.

Eh, the scare factor wears off though - they use the same tricsk, like you just KNOW at certain points something is guna jump out at ya. AI is a bit stupid early on, but it gets alittle smarter - I'll wait for the Xbox version.

Every review i've read said this game didn't live up to it's expectations. I am still waiting for HL2 to hopefully blow it away.

Oh you couldn't be more wrong. They jump you all the time in a way thats not scary, but the truely scary parts (sudden flashes of shadows right when you've left your guard down, the times when the screen suddenly goes orange and all hell breaks loose) always seem to happen the moment you think your save. Usually when your backtracking or something. Its beatifull. The general scare of having monsters jump at you around every corner wears off, but there are still a few truely freaky moments that you are not ready for. Play it and you'll know what I mean.

I'll wait for the Xbox version
TRAITOR!!! And stupid too, why the hell buy the game for an inferior consul when you have have it in its full glory on the PC?
