I used to play type 1 (and be really good at it too). But I quit, because the format got somewhat lame. My favorite decks were type 1 Necropotence decks (back when you could play 4 necros and 4 ivory towers), and Long.dec, which was a blast back when 4 Lion's Eye Diamonds were legal. They're still fun with 1, but just not as over-powering.
I have no idea what the current type 1 metagame is now, but I had a few long///twister varients that could go off turn 1-3 85% of the time.
A typical decklist I'd play would look something roughly like this:
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Timetwister
1 Time Walk
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Black Lotus
5 Moxen
1 Lotus Petal
1 Lion's Eye Diamond
4 Dark Rituals
2 Elvish Spirit Guides
1 Crop Rotation
1 Tolarian Academy
1 Mana Vault
2 Tendrils of Agony
1 Yawgmoth's Bargain
1 Necropotence
1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Chain of Vapor
1 Chromatic Sphere (?)
2 Orim's Chant
4 Force of Will
1 Mind's Desire
1 Wheel of Fortune
1 Sol Ring
1 Mox Diamond
1 Memory Jar
1 Tinker
4 Brainstorm
4 City of Brass
4 Gemstone Mine
1 Underground Sea
2 Glimmervoid
1 Tolarian Academy
yadda yadda.
That might be a card or two short, but that was my favorite magic deck. Next favorite would prolly have to be a Necrodeck, goes something like:
4 Necropotence
4 Ivory Tower
4 Hymn to Tourach
4 Dark Ritual
4 Duress
4 Phyrexian Negator
1 Unmask
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Black Lotus
1 Sol Ring
1 Mox Jet
1 Lotus Petal
1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Mind Twist
1 Nevinryll's Disk
1 Demonic Consultation
1 Diabolic Edicts
3 Hypnotic Specters
18 Swamps
2 Wastelands
1 Strip Mine
That should be pretty close. Anyways, enough nostalgia. Just don't play type 2, cuz it sucks.
