I'm a big John Williams fan. Imperial March from Star Wars, Raider's March from Indiana Jones, and the theme to Jurassic Park are some of my favorites. I also like Scott Joplin's pieces, such as Maple Leaf Raf and the Entertainer. I like Jupiter and Mars from The Planets also.

What makes you think he's a traitor for liking jazz? I mean, orchestrial music can cheer you up, but jazz actually makes you move... what's not to like?

I like Rock music with classical music... can you say Progressive Rock? Most of these are Rock with a lot of different instruments from different styles and the tracks are longass like 10 minutes. It has a lot from orchestral music when I think about it, just a bit more modern and innovative. And it's rather mellow and melodic, you don't have 2 basses or something, I'm talking alternative Rock, not Metal.
I am guessing you like Dream Theather. Possibly the best Progressive rock band live. Rockin the Purple monster.

jazz.... omg, no offense, but in my opinion thats real ear bleading material, along with r&b.
Metallica is great, one of the best metal bands ever. and the only reason why i say one of is because i cant possibly know all the metal bands in the world.

Their album S&M... personally i don't like the orchester (spell?) adding colour to the music. some songs like battery or call of ktulu sound good but master of puppets... bah!

orchestral music is good to listen to if you have good speakers which have a nice frequency spectrum, (not your classic sony walkman headphone) otherwise it sounds like crap. its really relaxive, but on the otherhand opera suxxx cuz i cant stand these fat biatches whining and crying!

Thus proving that your taste in music revolves around the name of a band rather than the sound of the music.

Anyway if it sounds good I'll listen to it. I do like a lot of classical music as well as jazz music.

A question for you people, does the music relax you? Or calm you down, sooth you? It always has this effect on me, thats why I've been playing it a lot recently in winamp..

How do Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir's names somehow make a connection that would make him listen to them from that subject alone?

no it doesnt. i just like the style of the music the way dimmu borgir and cradle of filth have it- when they have orchestral music in the background it has a calming menacing sense to it and has atmosphere to the song. if i was to listen to any actually symphony/orchestra constructed by 50 year old guys in white powdered wigs i just wouldnt enjoy it that much, even though i have been to a few in school before and they werent THAT bad.
but dimmu/COF are just 2 i named as there are other bands who have it as background music a plenty but dimmu/COF is just....
different. maybe thats why i like it, because its different.

...How would the fact that a conductor wears a "white powdered wig" (which isn't even true) ruin a piece of music?

I love it. I like listening to music much more than singing. I usually have some of it going in the backround while I surf the net. Either that or SNES music.

Yes! I love his music in Fable. Fits the mood so well.

I actually don't mind regular classic as much, as in the white powdered wig type. I like moonlight sonata (sp?) and fur elise. I also like the Requiem song.

Sometimes I wish I could play piano cause it has such a wide range of music type.

i was refering to old-timey classical and orchestral of which not many years ago they all wore the white-powdery wigs and most people think of those guys when they hear orchestra or classical music.
and i never said they ruin music.

I do, they tend to be the most emotional stirring. For some reason war movies/games like to use them???
