Do you guys research upgrades?

Iam talking about B-smith/graveyard/H-hall/War MIll.

Do you upg theese?
I never upg, because i think its better to use my gold on buying new units instead of uppgrading. So i wondered if that is smart or just stupid

I always upg.

Theres huge difference between not upging and upging, take a look at MG's Armor, Chims/Frosties attack dmg for example.

i only upgrade damage upgrade of my ranged once and the armor of my melee once. i often upgrade them when im teching to tier 3 and i have an abundance of gold. i figure having 2 footman is better than one slightly stronger footie.

I get armor upgrades only most of the time. or if using bears and dryads attack upgrade only.

i always try to upgrade defense, attack, defense attack, etc. just depending on my strat will determine if how early or late in the game i choose to do them

Example; you may have 20 wyvs not upged, but ur enemy has 15 wyvs, all upged, ur enemy wins

By the looks of this thread, none of you know what your talking about.

The basics to upgrading is

Range = Attack Upgrades. (two first, then armour)

Melee = Armour Upgrades. (two first, then attack)

Amen, heres what I do for NE:

hunts + Archers + Glaive: Attack upg
Lore units and Wind = Armor (for MG) then Attack (for chims and hippo and talons)

Yes, I upgrade. It makes a big difference.

The upgrades from other buildings seem to be more valuable most of the time, but yes I upgrade.

yeah its alot more important to get stuff like war training instead of that lvl 3 armor boost.

Of course I upgrade. 3/0 Archers with Trueshot + Improved Bows + Marksmenship = hero murderers for 150/10/2.

I don't know really, I have a bizarre affinity to forget Armor upgrades exist.

I upgrade, but not often enough. Lately, though, I have been teching almost every game.

it all depends on the situation. if you're switching to the offensive, upgrade attack. if you're preparing for someone, upgrade defense.

But if you're range, upgrade attack because focus fire owns just about everything. and upgrade seige also, it makes a huge +10-30 dmg difference.

stick that other guy's idea with the upgrading melee defense because most melee are used for tanking

Depends. On FFAs always in solo always but if i change those that require different upg like from upgraded rifles i swithc to knights not always.

I don't make it an extreme point to, but if I ever ever notice that I'm not upgrading my main units I go ahead and do it.

think about this. there were examples of 15 to 20 n numbers. u think one armor upgrade is going to put u back 5 units. 1st and 2nd level cost nothing in upgrades. look at unedead, for the price of another ghoul u can upgrade all ur ghouls.

Meele receives armor upgrades, and range receives armor and attack. Ne palyers whine cause gargs can kill archers with focus, but u dont upgrade armor.

Not to mention armor reduced damage from everything.

Also, some players have no real strategy when it comes to resource management. in a game like FFA and solo, u want to have more money then your opponent. so it is smart to stay in low or no upkeep and receive more amounts of gold. That is when you upgrade, then u can build units and move to high when you have an expansion and are ready to end the game.

Yeah but you really need to use units of the same upgrade if they matter so much.Once going footmen upgrade, use griphons and knights of course if this can counter the opponent.

in every game i use at least 3 or 4 upgrades like 2 on armor and 1/2 on melee attack. my armor upgrade is for my units becouse i am orc and that is very good for me
