This is a great chance for me to... vent a little on a lot of these overpowered, and just plain stupid runewords that Blizzard has added - conveniently organized, and in alphabetical order, starting with the runewords!
Runewords:
Breath of the Dying - Now here's a really stupid runeword. +30 all stats, 50% poison nova when you kill an enemy and incredibly stupid IAS. Is it even possible to die pvm if you have one of these?!
Call To Arms - Another overpowered piece of... trash. It's one of the runewords that is so overpowered that it is completely unimaginable to go without it (especially pvp), and by definition anything that is like that is... well overpowered.
Chains of Honor - +2 all skills, +65% all resists
Enigma - Teleport, with the +2 all skills. The mf doesn't help much in the balance department, either. This is another one of those items that if you don't have... you'll "suck". Especially if you're a summoner.
Exile - Insane defense, and a defiance aura - not even remotely balanced. Then add in the self-repair which allows it to repair itself...
Heart of the Oak - 30-40% resists, +3 all skills, +40% cast rate. Self explanitory.
Ladder only:
Spirit - +2 all skills, +% cast rate, and available in both shield and sword form. Oh, did I mention that the highest rune in it is an amn?
Things like that are the reason why I quit Blizzards' patches for d2, and suggest people do likewise. Blizzard has demonstrated, by creating rune words like these, that they have little, if any, regard for balance or even sanity. They pump out rune words which both make actual unique items complete garbage, and that nobody can make a "decent" pvp charactor without. That, by both my definition of balance, and the one it's based off of (Dungeons and Dragons') is destructive of the game.
For the record I do not hate the basic... premise (sp) of Diablo, but rather what Blizzard has done with items since patch 1.09. They just pump out stronger and stronger rune words, making uniques (And sets) worst and worst.
Thanks for your time.
