You don't necessary need a teacher in order to promote maximal learning experience.

Go search Problem Based Learning (or PBL for short) on google, and read some studies done on PBL if you'd like.
You dont need a teacher but having a good teacher can make a difference.

i have studied PBL, there is alot more to it than just that... i'm in my final year studying to be a teacher..
im just fully interested to hear what ppl think a good teacher is!

What makes a good teacher?
My definition of a good teacher.

One you cares about the students.
One who is on time to class most of the time.
One who provides more than one method to solve a problem (math etc) or another way to put it -- One who tries to make students understand the material being taught.
One who makes themselves available for after class hours for what ever reason. Tutoring or conferences etc.
A flexible teacher meaning if you have good reason you can not complete an assignment on time her or she will provide a solution.

Another thought A teacher is nothing without students who are not willing to learn.

Good teachers are hard to find. Even more so when you get to college because all they care about is the pay check and giving a minimal effort to get it.

If you have studied PBL.. then you should know how flawed most of our educational system is at the moment...

But yea, to answer your question... good teacher should be someone who can interact with his or her students in a friendly manner, and keep positive relationship with his or her students.

And also, being fair =P gl!
