What is the best science fiction movie that was made recently enough to be remembered by most people. I tell you, I've seen most of them. My personal collection of movie titles includes such phenomena as Starship Troopers, Pitch Black, and the great MiB, MiB II, and, of course, Godzilla.

My expansive collection will soon include the coolest dragon movie of all time, Reign of Fire, and I hope to replace my cruddy recorded copies of the Aliens Trilogy, plus Alien Resurrection.

Tell me of your love for the sci-fi movie. Speak the name of the worthy.

There is no possible way I could choose a favorite, but the one I am most recently watching from my collection is "The Fifth Element".

Between the story line of good versus evil, love conquers all, and the perfect blend of sound track, without going overboard on effects, it is an awsome movie.

"Blade" would have to be in this exact same rating.
Nothing like a good slice and dice with an awsome techno sound in it.

Joe's Garage.
Its an old movie but they are remaking it... so its kinda being put back into semi main stream of media.

The movie is "Dawn of the Dead" best Zombie movie ever made in my eyes. And my fav horror movie.

I'm probably a bit...uh...prejudice when naming titles... For me, my favorites are ("shortened" due to naming)

1) Star Trek (all movies I - VI, Generations, First Contact, Insurrection, and Nemesis)
11) Star Wars Episodes IV - VI
14) Back to the Future
17) Stargate
18) The Fifth Element
19) Alien, Aliens, Aliens 3, and Alien Resurection
23) Men In Black and MIB II
25) Minority Report
26) Terminator and T2: Judgement Day (haven't seen T3, yet)
28) Predator
29) Matrix (original)
30) Star Wars Episode I and II, and Matrix Revolutions

That's all I could think of at this time, 32 movies is actually a short list...

FYI: Final Fantasy is, as the title implies, FANTASY!! Just as is Lord of the Rings (Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King) and Willow.
FYI: X-Men and Spiderman fall under Fantasy, as well. "Superhero" is a "specific" type under the genre of Fantasy. Blade and Blade II would fall under this category too, as it is based of the Marvel Comics' "Blade".

Dude, guys. I disqualify Matrix. It's awesome, and me love it a lot, but I don't quite consider it truly Sci-fi. Action, yes; scifi, no.

Does Reign of Fire count as fantasy, or is it realistic enough to be sci-fi? Also, the JP series is pretty well up there with the classic greats. Of the Aliens series, I must agree that Aliens is the best. First of all, it's the only one with an actual HIVE, and LOTS of aliens, and GUNS! All the others, save Resurrection, seriously lack in weaponry.

Predator movies rock n' roll; Ah-nold is a badass in the first, and Dan-the-man is a great nemesis for the pred in the second. I have heard rumors of an Alien 5, a Pred 3, and.....yes....AVP Movie! I anxiously await this.

You must'nt diss Pitch Black; no movie beats that one. Vin Diesel is the new Ah-nold, hands down.

T3 rocks, Matrix 2 is lamer than the first, in my opinion (granted, the fights rocked, but the story sucked), Final Fantasy was just this side of sci-fi, and rocked. One other decent animated movie would be Titan AE, which wasn't too bad....

Also, for the purpose of voicing my love of them, I'll count the Mortal Kombat movies as scifi and not action, although they are concievably both.

I'll go with that, but I put it on there just to "finish out" my list.

If you can't tell, I'm a sci-fi junkie. Yes, Reign of Fire is considered, by most, science-fiction. I'm not sure I would, however.

No confirmation here on Aliens 5 or Predator 3, but would be cool. And I completely forgot Predator 2... Baka!!

I didn't, but I haven't seen it. I don't know about Vin Diesel being the next Arnold... I still like the Austrian better.

Matrix Revolutions... Yeah...bad movie. Final Fantasy is not Sci-Fi. It was, as many Final Fantasy Video Games, 65 - 75% Fantasy and the rest a mix of Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, and other. It is, first and foremost, Fantasy. Titan AE was good, but I didn't know if you wanted animation.

Also, for the purpose of voicing my love of them, I'll count the Mortal Kombat movies as scifi and not action, although they are concievably both.
I really didn't like those movies, to tell the truth. They don't fall under sci-fi, however. They are only about 10 - 15% sci-fi.
