hotkeys change for each race. u can see what hotkey does what by hovering over the icon with your mouse and the highlighted letter in the name of the unit/buildings/spell is the hotkey, plue F1, F2, and F3 correspond to your first, second and third heros. hitting F1 will select the first hero you built, and F3 the third. hitting alt should display a HP bar over all the units in the screen. Alt + G will create a minimap ping.

As for what to expect on Bnet... expect alot of assholes, and dont expect easy matchups. it will prolly take some time to win ur first match, cause alot of ppl make new accounts, and other abuse.

u can play all 4, im just saying, each unit has a different names, and listing hotkeys for units and buildings would be.... insane

there is of course the random choice when u do play ur games to get a 25% chance to get on of the four races. Playing all 4 can give u an edge, because ur opponent will not know what race u are once the game starts.

^ a MUST wc newb guide, (I hope I dont offend you in calling newb, if I wanted to offend someone, I'd call them n00b, you do know the difference between two words right? :p)

anyways, this site, is godly, very helpful!

www.battle.net/war3

and well, what you should do is play with computer, make yourself random, and just choose the race you get out of it and play with that race for the rest of the game, thats what I did.

Here's something that will map all your hotkeys to

QWER
ASDF
ZXCV

format. As it, all the buttons on the lower righthand side of the screen will be mapped to their corresponding keys.

There are some hotkeys that aren't, but those are rather few. Only one I can think of offhand is reviving heros.

Simply put this file into your WC3 folder, and say yes when you want to override the previous file. Also, best backup that older file, just in case.

My game play is rushing now, defence doesnt get you anywhere.

And remember to keep on creeping (killing neutral units to lvl your hero and get items)

I would hardly call rushing deadly.

hero rushing, definately not. though annoying, I don't know a signle hero rush that will devastate a player.

Rushes with units and heros, are stronger, but deadly? I do not think so. a Rush wins a game in 0.05% of games

Hero rushes always devastate a player.
Hero rush a human, miltia woods
Hero rush an orc, loss of time and resources
Hero rush a NE, loss of wood wisps
Hero rush an UD, well nothing happens

Hero rushes can take time off your creeping, or whatever the hell your doing giving time for someone to tech while your trying to catch their hero

don't rush undead you will die their towers are imbalanced :). Basic tips are always remember to build a hero, they will change the outcome of the game. The play is much different than the campaign, you never start with a base you always build from pretty much scratch. Get used to the hotkeys, and when starting it's good to play random for a bit to decide what race you like to play with the most. You will lose your first games because a lot of low level b.net players are actually abusers making new accounts so they fell better by winning more :(
