Merry Christmas? What's christmas. I thought it was reffered to as "Happy Holidays" now. That's what it's going to be you know. It's pretty sad. All the big TV stations and internet sites say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" because they don't want to piss off the people who don't celebrate christmas. It's just another thing that goes to show how damaging religion is to our society :/

Can't we just forget about religion and not try to argue about it even though that's the reason we have Christmas to begin with. If you want to ignore religion and scald it, then I guess you can go ahead because chances are my views aren't gonna change your mind. Let's just forget about our differences and try to enjoy the time of year. It's that time when you can look past the fact that someone argues with you a lot or that someone else just pisses you off. It is the time of year when we all need to just laugh and enjoy each other's company. That is what I intend to do and I hope all of you do too.

If you want to find out what the days mean just go to google and look up history of the 12 days of Christmas and you will get lots of sites that will tell you what it was all about. I'm not even gonna try to explain it because it is such an easy thing to look up.

12 would be the apostles, day-wise. because there were 12 apostles. or am i entirely wrong? i was thinking along those lines because if holy trinity is 3........yea.

Actually if you go to one of the websites you would find out that 11 is actually for the 11 faithful Apostles. And 12 drummers drumming is the twelve points of the Apostles Creed. 10 is the Ten Commandments and I'll let you look up the rest. Unless you want me to go further or I can give you a url for one of the webpages with this info.

december was the time when pagans had festivals to honor their gods during the winter solstice.
not to be outdone when christians saw this they made up that their savior was born on dec 25

i dont know. the whole catholic church follows the bible, so no one can answer that. but know this: christmas isnt what it used to be. before it meant the birth of jesus, but now it means: santa claus comes down the chimney and leaves you presents under the christmas tree you decorated. and also in your stockings above the fireplace. And then you eat you turkey with cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes or whatever (i dont know cause im not canadian, in slovakia(central europe) we celebrte it differently.) and you hang mistletoe above your door. and you put holly everywhere. you decorate everything wiht lights and sparkly things. you call that holy? i think not. there should not be a problem with christmas for anyone.

I know how you feel . I live in Louisiana and it hasnt got cold here yet. My dad started growing a Bellpepper garden last summer and it still hasnt got cold enough to kill the plants I really hate this heat..

come up here for a while the temperature goes from 40C (104F) in the summer to -45c (-49F) in the winter

a couple of years ago we got 5 feet 2 inches of snow in 2 days
