Chicken or egg, what came first?

how come it isn't possible that an egg of the previous form of a chicken hatched. Then while it was alive, something bad happened to it and it mutated into a chicken while it was alive and then it started to lay chicken eggs...

The answer depends on religion. If you believe in God and whatnot, you will believe that the chicken came first. If you dont' believe in God, or doubt his existence you would believe in evolution, so therefore the egg would come first.

I believe in evolution, and I am considered a christian. I very much believe in the almighty. Therefore I guess I believe that the chickenegg came first. jk don't be mad. I believe the egg came first.

That it less likely. A germ line cell mutation is quite plausable. But a mutation that changes an organism that is already grown would probably kill it. This of course depends on what are the differences as far as what makes the bird tick.

i heard birds were evovled from lizards,and dinosaurs were lizards,so i think chickens came first.

Yes, but it does not mean the chicken came first because somewhere along the line the lizards had to change into birds, i dont know exactly how but i doubt the lizards when they come of age they grow wings and feathers. The lizard had to off took to the tree's and lived in them for years (dont know exactly how long) and then give birth to the first ''bird'' because the lizards who of had to adapt the skills to compensate for the height,
preditors and food ect so they would probably start with skins for ''parachutes''. Then they would probably have more ''birds'' which then they flew off met up with a different species(but not too much different) of bird, mated and then layed there offspring which was another kind off bird and then they mated then there offspring . . . . ect till we came killed a few species and disturbed the peice so now they probably thought it would be safer not too cross bread.

Well, that’s how Darwin thought(or said he thought to avoid prosecution), he thought God set it all off but we evolved on out own.

Well, it sounds sort of possible at least. Evolution didn't happen over night you know it took millions of years to make any progress, and we can't really tell if we're slowing down (evolution wise) because the process is just, slow.

It could of been laid by the almost chicken type creature and the last stage of becoming was completed in the egg. As I said they both can be right.
