Make a post on any car audio forum asking "Are Xplods or Vibes good quality?" and you'll see what I mean. Whatever you like works for you, I'd just never put them in my truck.

@Deus: http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/ISEO-rgbtcspd/learningcenter/car/cable_gauge_chart.html]Here is a page that will explain power cable gauges to you better than I ever could. If you run too small a gauge, your amp might run for a bit, but it will go into protection mode pretty quick.

Any reason you suggested the 10" Alpines over the 12"?
I read the 12" have higher sensitivity for about the same price

Your car is not a truck. So your 10's powered by a good amp should be just fine man.

could have made that more clear. I plan on sticking with the 10s, just curious as to why Sweaty prefers them, as his car is a truck.

I don't prefer 10s, but they'd be a better option for a 2 door car and going for a cheap system. Putting the same amount of power to 10s compared to 12s will give you louder, clearer bass. Especially in a Monte.

I've got a set of Type S 12s in my Explorer, though because there's a lot more space in it. I still play them below their max wattage with the bass at -3 on my deck, and people hear them in their houses.

eh how does running two 4 ohm subs through a 2 ohm mono amp work out so the amp is working at less than full power?
Still a bit confused on that one

It works like this.

Since your amp can put out 800 watts RMS, and your subs only need 500, you'll be running your amp well below its full capacity. It will run a lot cooler than the guys out there who max out their amps and their subs shouldn't even get that much power.
