as for the isreal situation I know that the jews owned the land 4000 years ago, but sticking a group of well educated jews in the middle of hostile muslim terriotry is a bad idea...

You also have to consider that the Isreali army has fended off four well armed Islamic nations in a major war about twenty years ago. It's basically what "created" the Palestinians and changed conventional warfare against Isreal into unconventional terrorist acts against Isreal. Considering the strength of the Isreali army, it's a wonder they haven't exterminated the Palestinians, Jordanians, Syrian, Iranians, Iraqis, and half the other countries surrounding them. You know they could...

; I just realized I didn't answer that part... *sweat* I'm not exactly sure on the "usually" part...I just try to look at the broad implications. Our society is a society of debt. Since Reagan, I believe, we have been running "deficit spending," or something like that. As for hatred for the US...it's always existed. It's never going to change. The US is hated for many reasons, and the Middle East Suni tribe hates us because, well, we were founded under ideals they don't like nor do they like us "godless infidels."



I believe Isreal does, indeed, have nukes.

Yep, Israel has nukes. I can't remember his name, but he was jailed for exposing nuclear secrets a couple of years ago.

The idea that we should pay hostages is ludicrous. Unless we can be sure when we give them money, some sort of counter-terrorist group will capture them. However that maybe very hard.
