Have you heard about this? THey want to start having ads in space so when you look up and star gaze you see ads. I think it's a cool idea because I would love looking up in the sky and seeing something colorful up there. It reminds me of a childhood dream. I hope this happens!

I hope it doesn't. I enjoy the stars quite a bit, especially with a lady friend ;). Last thing I want is "Use tampax tampons" flashing in the sky.

Well, I think there might be some restrictions ont he types of ads. THe only think i would need to worry about is if anything falls down. They said that people across the world could see the same adds. I think seeing ads is cooler than stars! Planets are better than ads tho.

I think this sounds bogus. The sheer process of creating an ad so huge it can be viewed from the ground is way too much of an investment for a company, not to mention it would be too much of a risk to satellite traffic: a company isn't going to want to risk being sued because some ad collided with a three billion dollar satellite.

Not going to happen.

1- light polution, for people that want to look up into the stars?
2- The add would need to be translated into every language, the last thing you want is looking up to a big german add.
3- Cost?
4- Safty?
5- Power?
6- Complaints
7- satelite traffic.
8- No sound Ads are for Tv
9- People with certain eye conditions?
10- Priority which would they put up into space first a shuttle or a ****ing ad?
11- gravity? satelites fall down all the time.
12- Resources?
13- How would you read the words?
14- You would have to build it in space.
15- Maintenance?
16- Mini meteorites?
17- Lets say if someone decided to shoot one down...
18- It would be there for about a year then become outdated?
19- construction facility? soooo big
20- You would only see it a night when you're all inside.

Well heres a list of 20 it took me 2 minutes now lets carry on, so the next person will carry on from 21. LIST OF WHY THIS IS INFEASIBLE!!!!!

I hope that doesn't happen. I enjoy the stars, even though I live in a major city I still enjoy seeing the stars whenever they come out. The last thing I want is to go outside and see an ad flying around the night sky.

I disagree for the same logical reasons MacMan posted.

Doubt it. Look at the ads posted in your local highway next time you drive by.

Where I Come from before every thing fell to shit, they would project ads and public service announcements on to the sky. Not unlike a lazer light show. It was pretty nifty but they couldn't do it after midnight cuz peepz would get mad about the light.

What vegeta clams talking about would be a lot better Idea than massive ads in space. It avoids most of my reasons why ads in space would be stupid, though I don't really think people would be interested in ads at night, you need a good way of forcing people to watch them, like TV.

even if this ever did happen in the next hundred years, the ad cost when be huge. i mean, projecting an ad that half the world can see by just looking up...thats a lot of people.

Well seeing ligehts in the skies will not be good, i mean that will be quite annoying then you go up to the mountains at night to search for mushrooms in the forest (dont ask) and instead of stars and the feeling of freedom you get from being in nature you see the commercial of tampax, that would be shitty.

I can only think of two companies that would possibly be able to do this ($$$ wise)

1. Coca-Cola
2. Microsoft.

...sure seeing those windows logos fly by in space on the oldschool screensavers is cool, but every night in real life? sheesh.

Yeah. If I were the owner of a large corporation, I would really want my product targeted to the key demographic of stargazers with telescopes. How the hell can you believe this drivel? Screen Savers? That's, what, TechTV? The dorks who told me headset computers would be all the rage...? Somehow I don't find "The Screen Savers" a reliable news source.
Sorry, but no. Just, no.
