There are some questions I have about the lyrics of this song.

First, I don't think that the song's lyrics that were up at the www.creed.com really match with the lyrics that I hear from the song.

Here's the lyrics.

One Last Breath
Please come now I think I'm falling
I'm holding on to all I think is safe
It seems I found the road to nowhere
And I'm trying to escape
I yelled back when I heard thunder
But I'm down to one last breath
And with it let me say
Let me say

Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking
That maybe six feet
Ain’t so far down
I'm looking down now that its over
Reflecting on all of my mistakes
I thought I found the road to somewhere
Somewhere in His grace
I cried out heaven save me
But I'm down to one last breath
And with it let me say
Let me say

Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking
That maybe six feet
Aint so far down

Sad eyes follow me
But I still believe there's something left for me
So please come stay with me
Cause I still believe there's something left for you and me
For you and me
For you and me

Hold me now
I'm six feet from the edge and I'm thinking

But especially the Ain't part. I don't hear ain't in the song, only IS.

What I here is

Maybe six feet is so far down.

I also don't hear a 'That' before 'maybe'.

I also hear ' I am back when I heard thunder'
instead of ' I yelled back when I heard thunder'

Am I hearing this incorrectly or is the known lyrics with a problem?

I've heard the song and I still don't here an ain't... only an is.

.. Also, this might be a really stupid question but can you tell me what exactly 'Six feet down' mean? six feet from the edge, and six feet down.

I kind of know what it means but I'm not sure cause there can be a different interpretation of the song if it's IS instead of Ain't there..

well, the lyrics are definetly wacked, and six feet from the edge mean, like...well the video shows it better, but its like hes trapped in a place were he cant escape death, and its getting nearer and nearer, so its like an expresion "oh, no, im six feet away from death!!" you need to watch the video, its explanes more than i do, or just pay attention to the real lyrics more

I'm not surprised you hear the wrong things because sometimes the lead singer of Creed doesn't enunciate his words the best in his singing style. However, I do remember hearing the "ain't" in the song, but I haven't heard the song in a little while so I can't remember how the thunder part goes.

As for the meaning, I think it is taken from the perspective of someone about to die. I think the "six feet down" is referring to his grave which of course is underground probably about six feet. I think some people use an expression about being six feet under when they are dead or something.
