Xbox mod

Anyone here mod their xbox? i was going to but changed my mind for some reason...i might do it a little after next gen comes out.

I know a friend that does. It's pretty sweet. He has just about every game that's out and all he did was rent them and rip them on to his HD he put in there. Takes money in the beginning but it pays for itself when you rip a bunch of rented games and then take them back. Like 3-5 bucks a rent (unless you have a card, or coupons) compared to 20-49 bucks for the actual game.

Yeah, plus you can put DVD's on there, ROMs, I even heard someone actually managed to install WinXP on theirs, although it took ALOT of know-how to do so. Who wants WinXP on their Xbox anyway?

1. Yes i have modded my xbox.
2. Yes i have a larger harddrive and i do have games on it.
3. Ripping games/movies that you do not own is WRONG and ILLEGAL, it IS STEALING.
4. Rom's that you do not own IS ILLEGAL.
5. You CAN'T put Windows XP on a xbox, it isnt compatable. People have been able to put WinCE.Net on it, but there was no cursor, and many other things that made it not even worth it. It is still in development. Linux is a much better choice atm if you want a comp based xbox.
6. thebastardsword right now it is a great idea to mod your xbox. Not only hardware and software, but cosmetic as well! There are cheaper solutions to modchips called TSOP and GAMESAVE HACK.

I sooooo wanna do that, but if you get caught you are in a lot of trouble.

Get a mod chip they awesome and get some extra harddrives so u can have more than just 3 games saved oon it and 1 dvd if u get extra hardrive u can have like 20 dvds and wow so many fricken games so ya it'll set u back but u never gotta buy a game again and it pays for itsled in about 2-3 games.

god people, stop talking about stealing shit on the forums. You DONT need a modchip, you can tsop. And if you want more than one harddrive you HAVE to put a switch on the power for each one so only one is running at a time, because thats all it can handle, you also have to get a extra long IDE cable that has more ports. You can replace the origonal 8 gig hd that is in there with a larger one (idealy a Maxtor 250 GiG 7200RPM 8MB Cash) or you can even put in a switch so that if you bought a modchip that has a on/off switch, you can use the origonal bios with the origonal harddrive to make it stock, then when you want to play xbox live, your fine And when you want to use other stuff, just hit both switches (you could probally acomidate them both into one switch! it wouldnt be that hard really) and you got your hacked harddrive+bios on I really should make some posts about xbox hacking and get them stickied somewhere.....

Yeah, saves you money if you do it the software way, and it's a WHOLE lot saver for your Xbox. Infact, it's free if you find the website.(guess I can't post it, seeing as this is "ILLEGAL")

hmm, is it possible to play around with some game's programming so that its compatible with xbox?

nope =p If you load linux onto it you can run all linux app's. If you buy a usb converter or add a usb hub into your xbox (the controllers are accually USB) you can use your mouse and keyboard as well if they are USB. There are "special" xbox's called XDK (xbox development kits) and people make homebrew games and app's on them, although those are also illegal because they are not suppost to be public, so you gotta get them on irc =p
