Wirt's leg question

i was rearranging some stuff in my stash and accidentally socketed a gem in wirts leg. 2 questions: 1) can the gem be removed? and 2) will having a gem socketed to it affect it's ability to open secret cow level? if i won't, then i won't worry bout removing it. but i have to go back. accidentally killed king cow on normal so am now playing thru nightmare. any help would be appreciated. thanx in advance!!

1. no (well the gem can be removed + destroyed but that would be a waste of a hel rune...the gem cannot be removed + salvaged)

and you COULD remove it, but that would destroy the gem as well :/

wow!! talk about prompt service!! thanx for the info. i don't have any hel runes anyhow. really wouldn't care about gem, it's just a chippy and worth sacrificing if it kept me from killing cows lol!! thanx again!!

I did hear though (i doubt its real) that if you fill the tome and P socket the éeg it will make a difference. just a rumer i heard.
