no, I haven't even seen the computer yet, but I wanted to know before I went and tried to help someone if Pirated Windows is terrible for the system

Same friend is having trouble running Diablo II on vista. Never had Vista but I assume a compatibility issue.

Windows XP doesn't have enough anti-piracy features unless you go ahead and install WGA to cause too many problems. Windows Vista perhaps. Windows XP might in the future. I can't imagine why pirated Windows XP should give you problems. It's installed all the time all over Malaysia and there are no major complaints unless you are the person with the WGA too.*

If you have a pirated copy of windows on your computer, and want to install an actual genuine copy, you can go to http://www.microsoft.com and go through their genuine advantage page and enter your real key there, allowing you to be accepted. And all the while making Microsoft viewing you as a victim. Gotta love it.

It isn't giving me a problem, I have a genuine copy of windows. I don't even know why he cares if it is pirated or not. I would just say format and install the real windows, but he wants to keep all his files, so I'll just refer to the Microsoft website I guess.
