Which way to go?

Should i go the "SETS" route or the "ITEMS" route? i have heard that items can be better than sets but i have also heard that sets are better because of all the extras.lemme know what you think!

definitely the items route is better.
sets, the only thing i see that is pretty kewl is that flashy shining thingy around you or the fact that Trang's set turns you into a vampire.

otherwise, in terms of effectiveness, the itmes route works much better and your killing is gonna be much more effective.

of coruse, effectiveness comes with a price...
thats why sets are never as costly as say runewords

i mean enigma, heart of the oak, and breath of the dying are among the most sought items cureently on Diablo II

but sets... they require you to build around the set. I mean the barbarian set, IK requires so much strength but with other items, ones that are better of course, you can save points for other things.

It really all depends on character, build, and character lvl. If you are refering to end game gear, definitlly go with unique items rather then sets, but for low and mid lvl characters some sets are amazing. I.E. Sigons, Tal, Trang, Griz, Ik, ect. (these are all goo sets for low end characters, but,for the most part worthless at higher lvls due to low def, or some uniques having better mods at higher lvls.
