Ok, Im either gonna learn VB or C++. If i learn C++ should I learn C first? And what are good compilers for these? VB is easier than C++, isnt it? And what are the advantages and disadv. of each language?

I'd say start with VB, I myself don't know it, just C++, but you should start simple. You may even want to learn QBasic, just because it's very simple, and it will teach you your way around programming languages. AutoIt is also fairly simple and good for beginners. But if you do go with C++, I can link you up to some very helpful tutorials.

C++ is about 10x more difficult than VB but it is much more powerful. Think of it as a highly advanced version of Java. There aren't many C++ compilers out there that compile every version of C++ though.

There isn't any need to learn C for C++ since they are essentially virtually equal.

Unfortunately, out there, there are too many VB programmers and too few C++ programmers. It's fine to start off with VB, but I suggest if you want a career in this field, learn C++ soon.

If you know Java, C++ should be peanuts.

It's up to you. Java will get you up to the basics of C++ but you may find it a waste of time. Mind you, both of them have steep learning curves.

Man... it depends what you want to do. Visual Basic is used for mainly a lot of small 'basic'(derr) Windows components. C++ is used to program a lot of hardware, and most engines. (Direct X is the only exception I can think of... it's its own language)

But if you want a career in it, lol, you'd want to learn them all.

Dice5_5(remember that sexy guy?) in college took a programming class, he learned it all : Java, HTML, CSS, C++, FORTRAN(LOL! he learned that on the side) VB, VB2, and I'm not sure about DOS.

Wow... I... really just don't know what to say about this... I'd argue with ya, but I'd be afraid it'd just turn into one of those discussions you have with mongoloid children that are affected by ADHD and Down syndrome..

Learn whatever you want, VB is easier but outdated by VB.NET and if you're programming in .NET it doesn't matter if it's C++, C#, VB, etc... since it's all just as powerful and performs the same as they all compile to CLR

If you want a compiler, Microsoft Visual Studio is what I use...but that's for Visual C++...which is pretty similiar only its a bit easier cause...I don't really know, just because ;) No, it's easier because you it lets you draw some of the GUI instead of coding it...it's kinda like the Dreamweaver of C++ if that helps you any...

You can also try Borland...I use Quincy 2002 even though a lot of people will tell you to do otherwise..I prolly would too, but that's just what I've learned off of.

C++ all the way,
vb is a lot quicker, but is a memory hog, i'd only suggest it to make, well i can't really say.
anyway C++ is a billion times (exaggerated) more powerful.

ok here's wat to do, get gta:vc original copy (C++)
and get another gta:vc but this time get it coded in vb, it should take alot less time.
ok now go play and see which one has the least fps/takes most memory/etc.

NOTE: this works with everything. even though in some progs the difference isnt so big. (eg. 1kb programs)

1.That has nothing to do with power

2.RAD Programming isn't meant to create games

3.There are way more RAD Programming jobs than game development jobs

Memory usage in a small program doesn't matter anyway. You could use vb to create the program in a couple of hours, or you could use c++ and create the program in a couple of days, it's your choice and in the end a couple 100kb of memory usage aren't going to matter.
