Where'd my old thread go

I had an old sticky I had made. Was called Map Unprotecting Tutorial or something to that effect.

What mod took it down?

It annoys me that it was taken down... When it was up I didn't get tons of private messages asking for me to unprotect maps for them... and when it isn't there... I get plenty of request so unprotect everyones maps. And I don't like those requests...

While i was staff member, me and Tronga decided to make a rule to not allow map unprotecting information. Because that is stealing people's maps and hard work. I also got a PM complaint from a Map Creator about his map unprotected here in the forum.

So really, that thread should not even be allowed.

Hey, well it doesnt really matter some people want in to ,ook a some of the triggers...well THE TRIGGERS DONT SHOW.....when you unportect a map the triggers will work but you cant change them or see what the maker did because there all in JASS script and basicaly only Blizzard knows JASS....so there is no point in unprotectin unless they see something cool such as a unit and they want to know how to make a cool spell or some shit. Also sometimes maps need to be changed to fix a glitch or a little error the maker didnt notice.

Im all for unprotecting...they cant use the triggers and thats the best part so why would it matter

If there was a rule to not allow map unprotecting... It makes me wonder... why does the warcraft III hacking section have map unprotector programs?

unprotecting isnt hacking...if u knew how to unprotect u would think the same...and go to the b.net site and read..most all the blizzard employ's agree with it because there against protecting to begin with, they think that protecting stops a few of the mappers from getting better by making more maps of there own thus slowing the expansion of the game

It IS like hacking. A map that was intentionally deemed to be uneditable was unprotected and modified.

So even if Blizzard is against protecting a map, the 'new' BF is trying to respect the mapmakers and legitimate players. Aw.....

Theres 2 sides to unprotecting. 1 is for learning, and fixing things. The other is for rigging the map or stealing credit. You're looking at the second way only... when you should consider that looking at maps will help lesser mapmakers get better...

I'd NEVER of been able to write a dialog thing without looking at another map for the example, the first time I did it (you needed to set a variable (Dialog Button = Last Created Button) and I would of never of guessed that had I never looked at one Island Evolution maps.

I wouldn't be able to help anyone here w/ dialogs or use any in my maps, or many features like leaderboards or help people with leaderboards... many many things... if I had not looked at other people's examples and worked from that, my first time learning them.
