Where to start...

Ok i admit im a noob to hacking and i may have given the expression that i dont like it and thats not true ...if you got the skillz then use them. If i was intrested in hacking (for goof off puposes...for now)where would i start? Any must-have programs?
What type of programing would be best and where could i learn it online my self? This is a question all noob hackers ask (im sure) but im not the type of person to attack anything or anyone if i got any good... just really intrested. we all started out as noobs...help a noob out.

#1. Required: Hex Editors. Find them everywhere. Anything that will let you manipulate EXE files, VC++, Borland's, etc...

You must know C++, the language of the program(s) that you are decompiling (Pentium's base langauge for D2/1 i think)
