What's With Eth?

When ever I flip through the games that are currently going on, I always see a few that have people with eth (I assume ethereal) stuff to trade. Why is it that these are so popular? Is it that they are cheaper or that they have better stats (although this wouldn't make sense because the item would break sooner or later)? Can someone clear this up for me please? Thanks.

Okay, eth, as you know means ethereal. The difference is that they have an increase in its base stats (damage or defense) and if I'm not mistaken its a 1.5 times increase in those stats.

That, and certain items are indestructible, therefore the eth unrepairable problem becomes, well, not a problem (example EBOTD or Eth Breath of the dying), and you get the extra bonus. With the revenge of the titans javalin, they replenish themsleves so no need to repair. Hence why they are worth more eth.

That's what I thought. But I also had an other theory. I don't know if anyone noticed this, but I did. If you give Eth gear to your merc, it doesn't break. I thought that people were just getting stuff for their merc. Thanks for clearing it up guys.

yes,eth gear does not break on mercs.

if the gear is ethereal the required strength and dexterity doesn't go up however when ethereal the defence does increase
