Whats A Referal In My Profile?

Ok I figured this should be fairly obvious but I see no way to do it so I'll Just ask... What is a referal? How do you receive or give them?

Uh because its part of this board? And I couldn't find the silly board question thread. Nor is it in the FAQ.

It seems like a noobish question so thus its in the noob forum.

*Edit* nevermind I figured it out, if you get someone to sign up to the forums and they give your name then you get a referral.
