I find many games on the GC fun and many frustrating. I read about games like Metroid, Wind Waker and Eternal Darkness. The reason I bring these 3 games up is that I own them and they are rated as some of the best titles on the cube. Here's my issue.

Well, I played a good time with each, but I'm always in the period where I get "stuck", spend a few hours backtracking and trying to figure out, but give up. Anyway, I just don't get how not knowing what to do is fun. I prefer games where you KNOW what to do, and the fun is DOING it.

It just bothers me how games that you have no idea what to do is not complained about. It makes me frustrated, and is the last thing I'd do for fun. I like games where the objective is clear, but you can take it multiple ways. My style is not figuring what to do, but actually DOING the mission.

That's just something I don't get why people ignore.

heh, part of the fun of a game is not knowing what to do

but even funner is when you are the only person that does know what to do; so you can show off your 1337 skills to every1 :)

it happend to me with gow; i loved it so much, then all of the sudden i just stopped

same with the new conker: lar, its the same as the old Cbfd so its not as much fun; i cant wait for rare to come out with a new conker game...

they have only made 1 in between the 2 conker games...

Well you should have figured by now that we are not all the same! With that in mind i like it when i have no idea what to do next. A game like ZELDA: The Ocarina of Time was soooooooooooo fun because you have to challenge your brain in order to pass the level you discover new things places and powers, what is set in stone with directions seems kind of boring i think. Yourself you probably don't like a chalenge but i don't know you so i won't assume that. So to answer your question FUN is anything that keeps you distracted for quite some time, im talking about vidoe games nothing else.

Z:OoT was very challenging....especially that damn Water Temple. That must have been the toughest level I have ever played in any game, apart from the damn Yoshi's Island game. Metroid's gimmick in that you don't know what to do next is that it forces you to explore your world, and learn about it, same with Wind Waker. In WW, if I didn't know what to do, I'd invent my own quests, like exploring the entire map. or hunting for the Triforce shards, or go and trying to kill the giant Octorocs at night or something. WW was just so large.

Well...I spent 2 straight days beating The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and had on helluva fun trip doing so...after that, I was the master, and right there was the most fun I had with that game. That and getting the god damn perfect save, every heart container, every mask, etc...same with The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask...those were so much fun, and defined my childhood worth...:fwink

Beat it in Master Quest, then come back to me :). The only reason Water Temple was tough was because it was easy to get lost. In Master Quest, they simplified it. Hell, you get the hookshot at the start after you drop the water level to bottom.

Sorry, the Longshot. In OoT, you needed to defeat Dark Link. Not a problem if you either:

a) blow your double magic and spam Din's Fire.
b) force him to stop blocking and smack him with a Megaton Hammer.

The Longshot in Water Temple is gotten when you shrink the water, just latch onto the target and claim your easy prize.
