What are pit runs?

I hear many people talking about doing pit runs but I have nvr actually tried them. What are they and what are the benefits of doing a pit run?

they are talking about The Pit, a cave in Tamoe Highlands in act 1

people say there are so manu uniques and champion monsters that the mfing is good there, ive done tons of those runs and found nothing very good, imo, stick with pindle/eldricht/meph

mm hmm, its a cave in the tamoe highlands in a1, lots ofc hampions uniques etc, two levels, big treasure chest at the end (appears on the map) supposedly good for mfing because the monsters mlcl are 84 *I THINK* but ive never actually found anything half decent in there, whereas ive gotten two wfs off of pindle so i like him better
