Was Diablo II more fun in the past or now?

Title speaks for itself. Was it more fun in the past or now? I read somewhere on this forum that it was more fun in the past because now nobody helps anyone else.*

I think it was more fun in the past. The new patches were okay. Fun for a day before every secret was found out in those first 23 hours. lol

I think now, however, the game is much harder. I cannot even begin to imagine all the work/hours to even build up a character now with all the expensive gear. Then again, its been awhile and I'm sure prices went down; if dupes work or I don't know what's up with that.

I've wasted enough time on that game. Good times I'll tell you that but I really believe the past was more fun.

yeah. it really isn't hard to get good. it would take a month or 2 to have a very strong pker.

i thought it was more fun in the past too though. probably cause in the present it's boring.

From the time LOD came out for about a year then 1.10 or w/e patch introduced synergies for about 6 months were the most enjoyable IMO. All the hacks and the baal runs and dupes and trade tricks and bots just get annoying, no one plays(ed) the game quest by quest area by area.

I used to love the game to death.
I mean, i wasnt the best player, but thats what made it fun. Climbing up the gear ladder.
Now its so easy to get godly, i dont enjoy it half as much anymore. Now that there are Ubers everyone uses a pally. None pays attention to the fun factor of building a new char from scratch. They all just try to make a strictly hammer or smiter.

Diablo is fun when you are playing with alot of friends at once. Getting to know those friends. That being said, the most fun I had was when 1.11 first came out and everyone was really active. I think that new ladder seasons generate activity since many people during the late stages of the ladder season people don't want to start playing again until the new season comes out.

NezMod would be fun with more people, we need to find new ways to get people to come in and play. Also, since the realm is down right now, it isn't fun right now.

Thats another reason.
Most people don't want to go and run through the acts. They would much rather just get a rush and go baaling. I had a hell of a time meeting up with a few friends and running from act 1 to nm. Thats the way the game is ment to be played. I wish blizzard would bring that back.

About nez. It would be bitching if we had a big ass server, with like hundreds of people on at once. Ide never leave my house if that was the case.

D2 before the warden...best hacking experiences ever. My viewpoint of course.... now you have to be careful what you do.

ya d2's fun anyway you play it with the maphack, now its so dull on linear. Im still playing it though because no other rpg compares to it. And i hate the most of the 1.10 R/w's, all the preparing you have to do before entering a duel...

I think that D2 was funner in the past, cause no one was so competetive, everyone was new to it, and any build was good, and I did, and still do, play it quest for quest, act for act.

D2 1.09 was the greatest patch ever.

zons wenrt restricted to wearing ed/ias armor and/or Fort/faith combinations to be good.

the infamous hammerdin was nowhere to be seen

smiters were usually laughable

people were friendlier

cows were actually good.

leveling was easier...

i say the best time to play d2 was right after project rust storm in 1.09, RIGHT before they made 1.10, why? because there were no whites, no iths, no xpan items in classic, but at the same time none of the shittyness of the new patch.


the only fun thing is how much harder they made the enemies in 1.10+, i remember when i downloaded the singleplayer beta of 1.11, i had to hack up my duped sword [created a rare with same mods as a classic duped sword, Soul Scratch] so that i could even hurt a zombie in hell... it was freaking crazy

I liked it back in the hacked up days. Patch 1.08? White rings..oh my. I loved getting godly hacks and killing newbs..to make them cry and call me a rude h4x0r. Then they'd run around as I nk'd them going "CHEATER! I HATE J00!" I miss those days

now days it takes about 7 hours to get to 85 and about 2 hours to raqngle up ur gear
