I want to inform everyone that the map Portal Age has been stolen by someone. Cyberatog, the maker of this map is afraid that the thief will publish the map as his own. :(

This would be very sad, because there have been put months in making this RPG.

If you ever see a RPG map named Portal Age of wich the 'author' is different then "Cyberatog", please do not download it or join it if hosted.

Also be warned that those fake maps might contain unbalanced and strange content and that Cyberatog can't be held responsible for that.

Only download and play maps made by "Cyberatog".

Thank you. :)

Everyone should use simple trigger protection.
It protects agenst (with the execption of Darimus :) ) people from changing your triggers, and stealing it, rigging it, making false versions, or doing stuff with it that was not intended by you.

That is true. But even protected maps can be cracked. Cyberatog DID protect his map, but that is only to keep not so experienced people away.

Damaging a map to protect it means that it easily can be fixed if you know what to do.

There is a good chance the guy who said he was going to steal our map was bluffing but you can never know sure.

Using a program that scrambles JASS can help and any that scramble the JASS also protect it in a way that won't just let you unprotect it the 5-second method. It takes like a minute and unless I want to really see the map, I usually just lose interest in it like that :p.

Also, theres some rather, *unique* methods that could be used.

These are using cryptic triggers to protect the map as well...

For example: In one clever map, they added a sound file, and had it check the sound length of that sound, then put it into JASS, then put it into the script at the top level of the map that runs at the start. They had it so that if the length of the sound file was 0.00, it would prevent the map from running in-game. (Meaning, if the editor didn't include this sound file when he saved it, it wouldn't work... finding this sound file's name can actually be very difficult, depending on the JASS you used at the start)

If you add something like that, delete the listfile (in the saved map .w3x file that can be opened with WinMPQ) it's labeled as (listfile), open it in a text editor and delete everything in it, then save. This way, someone would need a listfile to view the files.

If you did the method with the sound or something that checked a custom imported file to be existing, you can also protect it normally. This is usually enough to discourage people from being able to edit it.
