Stop running music helps a ton, also restart your computer before playing because things can still be running from before.

My computer is literaly brand new. I know it has to do with my router. The only other thing i have running is like ventrilo. And its not that. I have a whole gig of memory.

If you don't have a fast enough connection vent will lag you. Or are you just talking about client graphical lag?

You may have Spyware or Adware programs eating at your bandwidth. This may help you:

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\Your user name
Enable you to see hidden files and folders
Open local settings
Open temp
Delete EVERY file there you see! That deletes most adware and spyware.

IF it gets it all, install Proxomitron by searching it under Google. It should stop those popups that contain code that downloads adware from happening again

Brand new....

Does it lag in LAN try it set one up and start a 4 player game. It may be you need better graphics card for the settings you have set or just lower your graphical settings in options.

well hit ctrl+alt+delete and delete end the process of anything that is under your name EXCEPT for Iexplore or explorer- this will save some memory room for you also.
another thing: if u have AOL, which is hell for any blizzard player, you HAVE to have it running in the background to be able to do Bnet so if u have AOL and a slow connection then the AOL running in the background is most likely your problem.
also try to go to control panel and hit add/remove programs and get rid of anything you dont use and thatll create more room for you game and itll take up less memory (basically youll have memory to run the game) and that should make your game a little bit faster.

Memory doesn't do anything if it's being mis-used by the computer.

If it is a router problem, try disconnect the power of your router, and of the internet modem, then reconnecting one at a time waiting a few minutes in between.

Run wc3, Go into the control panel (ctrl+alt+del) go to processes click on "cpu" until it lists the top cpu usage at the top. WC3 should be the first on the list, if not, check the name of the program, if it seems useless, shut it off. Don't shut down explorer.exe.
Next up, it may just be the person who is hosting the game who is lagging... (this is definetely not true if the lag is consistent in all games)

If you have service pack 2, disable the windows firewall.

If you are on a wireless network router, make sure that it is broadcasting at the "g" setting (high speed). Also, try getting an ethernet cable, and hooking up directly to the router (make sure it's a 100mbps cable).

Under network settings for wc3, make sure your network speed is the right setting.

Check the port that wc3 is using under the game options. Then, go into your router, and find port forwarding area, set it to forward the port that wc3 is using (if wc3 is using port 6114 like it should, tell it to forward port 6114 to 6114).

Restart, Defrag, System Scan, Virus Scan, Spyware scan, check that you have 15% HDD space free.
