Warcraft II using cable modem... can it be done?

Here's the deal: we have one computer with a cable modem and one with a normal phone line modem. I want to play against my brother in Warcraft 2 by using the direct modem connection. How do I set this up?

man just buy a crossover cable and se the lan

as in, how do i do this without going to any extra lengths or spending $$$.... one computer is in the basement, the other is all the way upstairs.
