WarCraft Crashes to Black Screen on Startup!?

Im Currently running 550 mhz, 128 meg geforce4 ti 4600, 196 megs of ram, and windows 2000....Warcraft installs fine but when i go 2 run it, it crashes 2 a black screen. ive tried patching it and everything, but still no go. Plz HElp!!@

do you have directX 8.1?
and maybe cuz you cpu is not good enough.

Hum... 550mhz is pushing it. GeForce 4 TI 4600 is a great card though, so I would think that it would cover it, but Im guessing that its your processer.

Why do so many have so unbalanced configurations? 192MB is WAY over what a 550Mhz PC can work with properly. But to put it straight, a 1Ghz Athlon/PIII is needed for WCIII to run properly without lockups, and 256MB SDRAM at least to prevent crashes when playing. Oh, and check if your monitor's drivers are installed properly.

i have a pentium450 with 392mb ram and a voodoo3 and the game runs fine for me, might be windows 2000, i use xp

you know, i get a problem similar but it would just freeze anywhere, furthest i got was to a lvl 2 mk, when u mentioned windows 2k, that suddenly struk me that i have windows 2k as well, and my wc3 would crash 5 to 10 minutes into starting wc3, is there a bug concerning windows 2k and wc3?

royal. i think i might know ur problem.

If u have any movie codecs (divx etc.) uninstall them and it should work fine. I had the same problem.

As Swooper said, 550mhz is a little slow for WC3--and also with a low-end computer you wouldn't be getting the most out of your graphics card.

However, try going to www.nvidia.com/drivers to get the latest drivers for your graphics card. Be sure to uninstall previous drivers to avoid version conflicts.

mine has the same prob black screen after intro movie and i got a brand new com wit geforce 4 ti all new motherboard the works
and i got new drivers

once again, listen to me. Uninstall DivX Codecs before you try anything.

Yeah, do what fuglymnkee said. I had this problem before also, it ended up disappearing once I reinstalled Warcraft (and removed the remaining empty folders). A clean reinstall of the game might solve the problem.
