Time to look at the current situation.

Japan is threated by terrorists. Three hostages are taken adn threated to be burnt alive if Japan does not leave Iraq in three days. Should Japan leave?

No, I say. No-one should negotiate with terrorists.

Why? It will probably give them some incentive to kidnap more people and use them to make more of the coliation leave Iraq. And who knows if the terrorists will let them go? They might just kill them when Japan leaves.......

An uprising by Shi'ites. The easiest solution is to kill the leader of the insuegency, that cleric don't-know-his-name. He is the source of all the problems.....

So allowing the hostages to die is morally justifiable? Are their lives worthless? Should they be burnt alive just because of some 'no-negotiating with terrorists' rule?

And btw, i find it disconcerting that you refer to them as terrorists in your opening argument. You might see them as terrorists thanks to media bias and a bunch of other factors, but one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. By referring to them as 'terrorists', you introduce bias into your argument (think of how your post would look had you written 'freedom fighters' instead of terrorists).

And no, not an uprising by Shiites (implying that ALL Shiites are involved in some way) as you put it, but an uprising by a small group of radical Shiites. Why are you even labeling them as Shiites? Is there a connection between uprisings and Shiites you're trying to make here? If so, I fail to see it. You’re making the word Shiites sound bad by relating it to rebellion. They’re not just Shiites, they’re people as well.

Have a care next time you go labelling people.

I wouldn't consider someone who threatens to burn someone else alive a "freedom fighter" no matter whos side hes on. I don't care if they were terrorists or not before the second they did that they turned into terrorists in my mind.

This could turn out to be the third World War. That would be scary. North Korea will bomb anywhere in the U.S. and then that would really suck. :(

dust601, thats the whole point, they may be terrorists in your mind, but an opening post to a thread shouldn't start off by introducing bias, and shouldnt be suggestive.

Their methods may be questionable, but remmember, their cause is just.
