Erm... Yeah, since I totally came back after a couple years(I suppose this is my second return) I figured I might as well post some poetry.

Changing Dreams

Sometimes at night
I watch my family sleep
Slipping off to slumber
Counting imaginary sheep
My wife calmly breathing
Soft caress upon her cheek
As I recall my many memories
Of her, and them, and me
Our children are what I watch now
Curled up and fast asleep
Safe from harm or strife
Pictures of infancy
Then wondering of what they dream
Are they lofty thoughts of the world that be
Or are they ambitious goals of yet to come
Either way as it seems to me
They dream what they will
And do so happily
With the knowledge of their happiness
I am also filled with joy,
Because what once might have been
My own lofty thoughts of the world that be
Or possibly my own ambitious goals of yet to come
Have come to be merely them
Even more precisely on their being happy
All that I’ve learned
And all that I’ve done
Minus that which I do now
Means very little in retrospect
For what we’ve done is soon forgotten
And jaded in shifting memory
But the lives we've touched
Those we've raised
Will touch more and more
So I sit here
At night,
And watch my legacy sleep.

On Canvas

In different strokes
We lay our lives
Like paint upon the canvas
So perfectly contrived
Each one expected
But perhaps
And just perhaps
We should close our eyes
Dip our brush in pant
Of any colour really
And create anything at all
On anything
Especially not on canvas

Breathe Deeply, So Calmly

I make up my mind,
and block it all out,
the flak keeps coming in harder,
they're having to shout,
and I sit calmy through the storm,
through the thick and the thin,
breathe deeply,
so calmly,
just raking it in.
I know if I say nothing,
and I don't try to defend,
they will wear themselves out,
by keeping up with this trend.
I reinforce my barriers,
and count the seconds away,
since the present is bleak,
the future looks gray,
they give it up finally,
they retreat from my room,
and after counting to ten I,
breathe deeply,
so calmly,
trying to keep the tears in.
