Vista upgrade problem!

It craps out. What happens is that it gets to the final step of the installation, and at around 53% or so my computer restarts. I thought it was part of the installation, or it was finished installing. I tried to install Vista twice, and the same thing happened both times. The computer restarts and then tries to start Vista, but then I get a blue screen saying that I have an error, and then it continues to do a physical memory dump. Alright. I let it do that. The computer then restarts again, but this time it goes to a different screen saying that there is an error and I should insert my Windows installation disk (the Vista CD is still inside), change the language, and then repair my computer. I have no idea what it is talking about because the CD is inside, and there is no option to repair.

I tried to run it in safe mode when it was on the screen, but when it tried to start, it said Windows could not finish the installation in safe mode. So then I tried to start up normally, but when it seems to be loading up, my computer just restarts and it goes in a circle. I start up, I get the error, I try to start normally, then it restarts again. There isn't anything I can do. I decided both times to just roll back to Windows XP because before I can do anything on the computer it passes the 'boot management' screen where I can choose what to load, so it lets me roll back.

I have no idea why my computer gets a random error like this. There is no error code or anything; it just won't finish installing. Everything else is fine. I have Windows XP and I am trying to upgrade to Vista Home Premium. My computer is completely compatible with Vista as I have downloaded the upgrade advisor and it said it can easily sustain Vista.

What the heck can be causing this? It's quite annoying.

The problem is the word, "Vista".

Rather than give you the billion potential problems of Vista, it is recommended you do a format and install. Your computer is Vista-capable so backup, format, install.*

Eh....well if you're getting the blue screen of death that means your computer crashed. See just because its "Vista capable" doesn't mean that it will actually run Vista....do what the asian told you to do, reformat and try again but even if you are successful at installing it it will lag the hell out of your PC and forget about running multiple applications start getting to like the blue screen of death. Thats my prediction, what kind of PC are you trying to run it on anyways?

The first question should of been are you installing with a legit copy. Also, if your not than it's probably a old packed version of it which can cause alot of problems. Most of the so called ISO's of Vista are actually repacked beta versions, and cause alot of problems while trying to install. Now, if you actually have a working copy, before it starts up you should get a compadability wizard that actually diagnosis problems, and checks your computer for the best version suitable for your computer. Since you have said nothing about this tool, I am will assume you are using a illegitamate copy. I suggest getting a real copy "if" you don't already have one, but I would wait atleast another 5 months or so till everyone has had a chance to update for it.

My computer is relatively new, so the copy of Vista was included with the purchase. It's not in one of those fancy Vista boxes, but it's a CD from 'American Future Technology, INC." The compatibility wizard says my computer can handle it fine with the exception of a few programs that may not work correctly, none of which are essentially to running the computer. I have a serial number for the CD too.

The item that the computer says it is having a problem with is some sort of paging file. I ran the startup repair wizard, and it was taking almost an hour just to scan the computer, and it said one thing was fixed, but it never fixed the overall problem.

If you want my specs, I can post them. I might as well just give up with this Vista!

I e-mailed them, but they probably won't do anything about it. They will probably say that there is something I did to my computer which is inhibiting my installation.

When i upgraded to vista.. i would get the BSOD on startup..

It turned out to be a driver for dameon tools.. so yeah.. i deleted dameon tools and all went well..

If you have anythng that makes virtual drives, try removing it before the installation.

Daemon tools.. of course. How did you figure out that that was the problem?

Edit: I've been researching the error: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. Apparently it could be a problem with some hardware, but I have no idea how it would have been corrupted especially since I have never installed any new hardware. Do you think it could be the fact that I downloaded a separate driver for my video card? Bleh. It's either that or I have some other error.
