Do you know what virus it is? It would be easier to find out exact directions if I knew what virus it was.

No need to format your computer. All you do is delete all the files in your system restore. Just follow the instructions here http://vil.nai.com/vil/SystemHelpDocs/DisableSysRestore.htm

are the files important cus im afired it might damage comp..

The system volume information files are for backups. You can disable system restore to delete all those files. Then turn it back on and it will make more system restore points.
