>> SHINOBI SLASHES ITS WAY INTO THEATERS
Mindfire Entertainment, the production company currently working on bringing Sega's House of the Dead series to the silver screen, as already begun work on a Hollywood treatment of another Sega game, Shinobi. The movie is currently in its later editorial stages, and there's a tentative summer 2004 release date already set.
>> TARANTINO'S LATEST, KILL BILL, SET TO HIT PS2
Vivendi Univeral's Black Label games division has secured the rights to publish games based on the new Quentin Tarantino flick Kill Bill. Black Label will also develop the games, one of which will be released for PS2, with plans to get them out the door in time for the movie's DVD release in spring 2004. Director Tarantino will be creative consultant on the project and even plans to shoot exclusive footage for the game. Kill Bill stars Uma Thurman as "The Bride," a female assasin bent on killing the man who tried to murder her on her wedding day-his name's Bill, in case you were guessing.
>> VIN DIESEL TURNS GAME DEVELOPER
In movie-related moves of a different sort, actor Vin Diesel (The Fast and the Furious, xXx) has announced plans to form his own game development company called Tigon Games. Like any avid gamer, Diesel has always wanted to make games-his company's first effort, an action-adventure called Perrone, is slated for release in 2003. (wtf was with that huh deisel?)
>> NAMCO PICKS UP ARGONAUT GAMES
Having worked with Fox Interactive to publish Croc on the original Playstation, UK-based Argonaut is turning to Namco to bring its two new PS2 titles to U.S. shelves. Orchid, a third-person sci-fi action games and I-Ninja, a yet-to-be-revealed platformer (which will, one would hope, star a ninja) were being prepped for release last November. (hmmm? what about that Namco?)
>> TOP SOCCER GAME COMES STATESIDE
Konami has announced plans to bring its popular Japanese soccer series Winning 11 to the U.S. in March. The game will be the sixth in the series, which has sold more than four million copies worldwide, yet has never been released Stateside before now. We'll have a full preview of the game soon.
