Hey, I've just received an email from admin@verisign.com which I think is just not valid anyway. But I would like to know why the email address that I have joined with this account has been given to another company. The email is definitely spam as the email doesn't apply to me.

And I am positive that me email was given out by you, because I only registed this account with this site and no other.

This is the email:

I could spoof e-mail headers too, y'know.

Did you place your e-mail anywhere on a website like your own? Bots and spiders can trace that.

Ignore it. Administrators will only e-mail you about serious offences or updates about BF.

ok , to avoid the hassle, I'll just post everything

X-AntiAbuse: This header was added to track abuse, please include it with any abuse report
X-AntiAbuse: Primary Hostname - biznizmen.ocservers.net
X-AntiAbuse: Original Domain - badboys.cjb.net
X-AntiAbuse: Originator/Caller UID/GID - [99 99] / [47 12]
X-AntiAbuse: Sender Address Domain - verisign.com

As you can see the mail was recieved by "battlefourms@badboys.cjb.net". I can recieve emails from any alias I desire, thus I have began practicing this procedure of leaving the domain's name as part of the address, so I can specifically trace the soucre of the spam. And as I have an account with this forum which was created "Registered: Oct 2003". I'm not just making this situation up for no reason.

I'm not trying to cause trouble here, but as alot of people, I too do not like spam.

So since the addresses is unique to me and these forums, I can therefore be certain that somehow the address has leaked in some way from this place. By what means, I am unsure. I have not used this email address for any other reason, because when I register at other places I would use that domain name in the address.

Also you can see this is my second post, thus I don't usually post in these forums. (I currently can't recall why I registered, though it would be related to war3). Anyway I just would like to know, or maybe know that someone would look into it. As I don't think other users would like more spam in their inbox either.

Also regarding spoofing email headers, I realise that is possible also, I know anything is possible. Though the possibility of anything deciding to send email to this specific address only is highly unlikely. This is an individual case. Thus, for a bot to decide to battleforums@ anything is not that likely.

Leaking of e-mail addresses are forbidden. Only moderators when posts are reported, Staff and Admins can view your e-mail address, so they are the only culprits. Staff and Admins should know better than to leak addresses.

It could be a scam, don't listen to it. My e-mail, x42bn6@hotmail.com got its first spam in 2 days, and how they tracked 'x42bn6' into a mass e-mailer I have NO idea.

It might be a confirmation, where someone has used your e-mail and expected you to be gullible and register.

If you need confirmation, you may want to e-mail Verisign. If you ignore it, they cannot do anything. If they do, you can bring a lawsuit in. ;)

If you need confirmation from BF, you can PM one of the admins, Crookedfoot, Swooper, Amantis or TheSummit (chrisuk is busy). They'll sort it out.

And as one of the users who signed up and refused to post, I will spank j00.

I just checked my In-Box. There was an E-mail that said if i paid 19.95, I could get these pills that would make my penis bigger.
Does BF know any thing about why i got this email? Also do those pills really work?

Jesus, isn't it already big enough clam? Pretty soon you'll have to order specially tailored pants.
