It means that the original was protected, and some jerkoff (most of the time) hacked it, unprotected it, and edited it. Most of the time, this ****s the game up hardcore, making the person just stopping with the game (ala Enfo)

If it's protected, it can't be opened in the custom game editor.

The map file will still run, but on editor it won't work. There are programs that unprotect maps, however its recommended you save a copy of the map if you plan on protecting it. Other ways include P2P filesharing and such.

IT is good that someone is taking the rules into consideration, congrats Tupac.

Doesn't unprotecting a map **** up the maps triggers or something? that was apparently the rumor going around for a while.

I havent been into wc3 mapping for quite some time, but I believe it converts every trigger into JASS. Some people can trigger with JASS (basically, the people who did custom spells and icons in RoC), but to most people its just screwed up triggers. They work, but not many people can edit them...

If a trigger was missing or invalid, it is protected. Either that, or the guy was an idiot and did something dumb with his triggers.
