If you could equip your Act 2 Merc with any helm/armor/weapon, what would it be?

not so much dmg as EBOTD... but i think all the auras are pretty funny...

this will give the merc conviction ( less enemy resists )

and all 3 of the pally elemental dmg auras ( holy shock, freeze, and fire )

should work out well considering it would be able to hit anything with all of the varying elemental dmg and phis dmg

Me personally, I like to have life, and mana regen, since I do alot of caster characters. So I would have act 2 Heal Merc. Give it Insight Runeword for mana regen, Stone Runeword Armor for the beefy Defence, and Dream wuneword Helm.

Give props to Emolite since he did make it. I jut used the idea as something I would do for my mercenary.

Helm: Eth Gaze for mana and health leech
Weapon: Eth Obedience for resists and high damage
Armor: Fortitude for Resists and damage and hp and defence.

With all that my merc defence is 17k, damage is 13k, hp is 8k with bo.

I think this would be the best non ladder gear for merc.

this makes a very powerful merc once he can wear all the sutff ( it hink he has to hit lvl 97 or so...) hse basically invincible except with psn damage and bosses meph and up

i use to be godly...just...after dday3 right before 1.10 wipped me out...i never recovered..i just lost my love for d2...

here recently i got back into it though...and im slowly building back up...i can almost afford an enigma now =/

Well I decided to go with an eth CV infinity, eth sup dusk fort, and an eth andys with 10 ll and 30 str (gonna put a 15 ias 30 fire resist jewel in it). not a bad merc if i do say so myself.

i think vamp gaze, the one with decrep or taht one that gives the ice aura runeword, and leviathan armor on a might act2 merc would be best.

leviathan on any merc is perfect for an ordinary merc. if you want him to be the best though, go with fortitude. cheap and very effective.

act 2 defiance merc (why in god's name does anyone use freeze? I still can't figure it out.) has two possible builds.

Tank build (for botting..)

Eth Gaze, doesn't matter what mana/life leech all that matters is 20% DR, with an Ivory jewel of Truth/Hope (+41-64 def, +7%fhr or +9-20 life) or if your merc is too low level to have the str to use up'd shaft you can put Fal in this and unsocket it when he has enough str
Eth Up'd shaft with ivory jewel of truth/hope
insight polearm doesn't matter what the damage is

Kickass build (for playing...)

eth gaze with as close to a 40/15 as you can get, this gaze should be at least 7/7/18
fort, should be made from eth archon or higher if he has the str for it
ebotd polearm..but if you're a sorc I would still give him Insight anyway the higher end polearms while needing a lot of str do good damage and the Med aura is worth sacrificing the damage all in all, he will still do great damage just not enough to pwn everything as if he were a real player


thats my personal builds for a2 mercs, and they are biased basically to if you are a sorc since that's all I really play

Polearm Question

Ok guys I came accross this ethereal superior great polearm a few days ago, I cubed it and wham 6 sockets, the damage seems pretty decent for something with nothing in it, and the str is slightly on the high side but not outrageous. What I am wondering is if this would be a good canidate for a EBOTD?

1. make your own thread on this might be better.
2. If its on a merc, you will most likely need some gear with +str to actually use it.
3. wtf try it out if it dont work to your liking trade it a low BotD still sells good.
