I know atleast a few of you people have played one or more Twisted Metal Game! From Twisted Metal to Twisted Metal Black, it had to be one of them! But, as for my take on the series! :) I am a very hardcore fan of the genre Vehicular-Combat, and any Twisted Metal out there is no exception! :D Basically, you choose from a umer of respectable cars, driven by weird, stupid, sexy, or just plain crazy people, and the cars all have different stats, such as Armor, Speed, Menuverbility, etc etc! ^.^

Every vehicle also has a custom-mad eweapon that only they can use! For example, on Twisted Metal 2, there was a bulldozer type of vehicle named Mr. Slamm, and what his special was, is he put teeth on the front of his Dozer and so he grasped you with them, and slammed your car repeadily on the ground for massive damage! :D Another good example is Spectre. He is a sleek sports car, but his special is a stealth ghost missle that goes through walls, as well as zero's in no it's target, so it almost always hits. :D

The basic concept is to fight through a number of levels against all the other cars, in a tournament! With each level, there's usually more cars to destory as well as the AI on them being increased! You can get varis powerups such as mortershots, rockets, napalm, and to restore your health for your car, you find the little medkit powerups throughout each level! *_* When your car is below half health, it looks really jacked up and tends to give you a good hint that you need some health before you get whrecked!

Music! Well, up until Twisted Metal 3, the series incorporated random sounds and music tracks with no vocals for the level music. But when Twisted Metal 3 came out, they added a lot of music from artists such as Rob Zombie, Pitchshifter, and a few others! Naturally Twisted Metal 4 has Rob Zombie, but it also had a better variety of songs such as Chaos from Nine Inch Nails, and a gangster song for a highway level by Cypress Hill!

Discuss this game now! :)

i loved the dark style of Black, and expecially the stories behind all the characters, expecially the priest who thought he had a demon in him, and wanted to win the tournament to get rid of it or something, but it turns out he's just crazy, isnt that nice?

its also wierd the lil boy who turned his dad into a walking robot thing... he had a remote control for his dad for god sakes... ( he's sweet tooths lil bro )

TM 2 was the best- i think its even betetr than Black on the PS2-
the graphics on TM2 were simplier, yes, but i thought the game play was better. of course the blocky-napalm got gay after a while, but on Black you couldnt see anything, and on TM2 you could see everything.
i also thought Black was hard.. they made Minion looky gay.. they also took out Warthog.. he was my fave character in 2. its also a lot harder to unlock people on Black.
Black DID have betetr graphics and weapons, but the inviroment was too dark and dreary.. im not used to that in car games.

*PS* who plays that song in the beginning of Black? its only a few piano strokes (might be a high-pitched guitar) but i remember hearing that part on the radio.. i wanna say Slipknot for some reason..

Zerglite, you only played Black because of me..
we never unlocked minion either.. i think the Spectre guy was my fave on Black.. mat, who was the other guy on that game i liked?

oh yeah, another thing about Black i liked- the story behind the characters. neat.

but my fav thing to do was just run away from all the enemies, i thought it was so funny when they would shoot a missle at me and i wud hit < > v and shoot one back, quickly turn a corner into an alley, 180, come out and freeze the guy then do the omfg massive damage you could do with the motorcycles special ( damn it was devistating )

3 was, definitely, and while i didnt like the gameplay of black as well as 2, the stories of the chars seemed to kinda freak me out/entertain me and thats why i played that game so much

I liked the stories of the first two. I remember the grim reaper guy from 2, and he wished for everyone to kill eachother cause from that he fed. then everyone died and he died cause of all the death. that was ****ed

The song for the beginning part and for the credits is Paint it Black, by Rolling Stones! I can agree though Pan, 3 and 4 sort of did kill the series in a way, I think Black revived the series as a whole, but more then anything I love good old Twisted Metal 2! My favorite character is Spectre, just because those ghost missles are really potent when you know how to abuse them. ;) That and the fact that he's one fo the ahrdest cars to play as due to low armor. :D

Did you know Twisted Metal 1 & 2 were developed by SingleTrac, and twistedmetal 3 & 4 were developed by 989 studios. That is why 3 & 4 sucked so much compared to 1 & 2.

Twisted Metal black was actualy developed by Incog Inc., which is actualy the same group of developers that worked for SingleTrac.

Yeah. There was a dramatic change of gameplay as far as interface when Twisted Metal 3 came out. Black for that reason is the savior of the series, since it's a return to the old ways with a good splash of morbid character profiles and some classy new grahpics and car designs. Twisted Metal 3 and 4 though, they had some fun moments, I believe. But nowhere can they compare to their predecessors, or the company who made them.

they dont really chain the stories together- i mean, i know they say stuff like " in the last tournament..." but i like good long story to games, like the FF, deep and in depth.
i thought chainging the story together would've been better in terms of having a morbid backgroudn to the game-
if ur going to have a dark atmosphere about the game, why change it every new game? take a story line, get into it deep, and use it.

The only continuation as far as storyline goes, for Twisted Metal would have to be the characters in it. Now, Twisted Metal's 1 and 2 had new characters, but the old ones were still there in their respectiver vehicles. When Twisted Metal 3 and 4 came out, they changes that for the most part, which did well to anger me, since I am an avid fan. Oher then that, nope.

I have Twisted Metal 3 and Twisted Metal: Head-On(yes i do have a PSP). Head-on is awsome. Sweet tooth is already unlocked. I can't wait till i get my access point so i can beat the crap outta people with Spectre. He's the best. In TM:HO Axel(one of my favorites),Mr Slamm, and crimson fury are secret. Right now i am awsome with crimson. There are 3 people you can unlock with story mode, All I need is two more bonus levels completed! Crimson=teh shizit.

EDIT: Pains, they do chain em together. Calypso: Welcome to Twisted Metal, if you win I will give you one wish. Let the games begin.

very good games(1&2) i particuarly liked the co-op mode of TM2, it made the game VERY enjoyable since my brother would play as hammerhead and i would usually play as someone like Mr Slamm or thumper(heh), occasionally i would play as mr grimm or twister...twister was very cheap on the new york level, knocking peopel off the level...gah pissed me off.

anyways,

my friends and i refer to the series as the origional(1&2) and the wannabe(3&4). Black was a great way to try and kickstart the series, except they disappeared after the release of the game.

What Twisted Metal 3 and 4 really lacked, in my opinion, were the Skyscraper Lvels. Those added an in-depth fear of dying (Even at the grahpical level of Twisted Metal 1 and 2.) and it was just so much fun ramming or shooting people off to their death. I have Twisted Metal 2 for my PC, that's how much I love it.

Yeah getting a high-armored car like Wathof and double dapping the gas and ramming people ff the skyscrapers was fun as hell..
dammit! i wished i hadnt moved from PS2 to XBOX even though i have a perfectly good PS2 in my room, but its not hooked up and i dont feel like chaning the systems around..
Is black on Xbox?..
when Twisted Metal Head-on comes on PSP (if its not already out) i just might get it, because it had graphics from TM2 and i saw Spectre, Twister, Grim, AND Warthog. Those were my fave characters back then. Warthog was still the best, though.

Nope. Twisted Metal has been stricly a Playstation Series from what I know. That doesn't include the branchoff Twisted Metal 2 for PC, teehee. Also, Using Super Slamm and grabbing someone, slam, ming them on air (Moving by a ledge and slamming them there.) then watching the arms retract, toss the guy to his death, and stop is priceless.
