Nintendo has announced that, due to a request by the developers for more time to make a, and I quote, "better game all around", they will delay Zelda: Twilight Princess until late spring 06, close to the launch of the Revolution. They want to add more levels, purk up the graphics some more, and just make it a better experience to play.

Freaking awesome. I know it'll be delayed, but it's perfect for me since I don't own a GC any longer, but want a Revolution, TP will be right there at it's launch. Also, for them to say that they wish to make an amazing game even more amazing shoots my respect for them up 5 notches on my scale, making them a very well respected 10+++++.

Any thoughts?

:/

I can't find that article. Everything I've read (Nintendo Power and Nintendo's website). According to GameSpot and SamGoody, it's set to release November 1, 2005. According to Nintendo.com, it's set to release Holiday 2005.

You'll hate me for it, but check IGN.

NINTENDO OF AMERICA supposedly said this, yet I see no proof on the official webpage! Gah. I don't really care if it's delayed or not, but all I've seen so far is a report from a site that has been very anti-Nintendo in the past (and this could be a "revival" towards that) and some website I've never even seen before.

NoA's News Room
Twilight Princess Information Page

The only official webpage, the Zelda Universe (<-- in fact a link directly to the thread), sponsored by NoA, hasn't reported anything on Nintendo's side of things yet. They even say it's an interview IGN held! I'm sorry, but I'm not believing their lipservice until something official is stated.

I will also note that, supposedly NoA said this. UNTIL NINTENDO OF AMERICA BACKS UP THAT NINTENDO OF AMERICA SAID THIS, there really is no validity. Besides, IGN's been anti-Nintendo in the past. Who's to say they haven't started that up again? Then again, who's to say they really even stopped.

Not only IGN, but Gamespot as well.

Gamespot said:
"After much discussion, the Zelda development team has requested extra time to add new levels, more depth, and even higher quality to Zelda: Twilight Princess. Consequently, we're announcing a new global launch in 2006," stated Perrin Kaplan, Nintendo of America's vice president of marketing and corporate affairs.

The new release date is now no sooner than April 1, 2006, as the game is pegged to hit shelves sometime after Nintendo's next fiscal year kicks off.

"While this may come as a disappointment to many eager fans, it will absolutely enrich the game," said Kaplan.

We don't even have an official source yet! It's been stated that IGN held this conferance, too. You wanna know the last time IGN held a conferance with Nintendo? They said that there would be no "next-gen" console coming from the Big N and that the sequel to WindWaker would be on the X-Box. When Nintendo announced the Revolution, IGN said the "revolutionary new system" was the DS.

Since then, IGN has deleted their "no new system from Nintendo" and retracted their Revolution = DS statement.

Maybe you think that was a prank held my IGN?

Also, Nintendo is rather lazy about updating their website every day, so, give em time.

It certainly wouldn't be the first time. However. The Zelda information page on Nintendo's webpage does show a new timeframe. It has changed from Holiday 2005 to, simply, 2006. As I said before, I don't mind a delay. I just want a credible source compared to IGN.

Um... You do realize it really doesn't matter, right? I somewhat doubt that IGN's "estimate" is right. April is more than six months away. That puts right around my estimate for Japanese Revolution release and about six months away from the November US release I'm predicting. I could be wrong about the timeframes, but it seems to coincide with "normal" Nintendo releases since, at least, the N64.

you really think Japan and US will have such a difference? The Nintendo DS launched worldwide in 14 weeks.
