I have realized that our one vs one tournys never work. We simplly are just to blah for it, so I have devised a new tourny system and I would like you guys opinon on it.

Each weekend we have a ffa
the winner of said ffa gets 5 points
2nd gets 4
etc..

This ffa season ends when someone gets 50 points, and I am not 100% sure what the prizes will be, but more than likelly a fair sized amount of cash depending on how long it takes to do this.

What are you guys opinons on this?

It's worth a try.. Couldn't you just farm hide until you get second because everyone else will kill eachother.

We can try 2v2's for fun too. :)

i will say like i said to darkmage, I dont think there should be any prizes. and i dont think that tourneys should be so frequent either. no one looks forward to games if theyre every week or so. make it like 1-2 months, so youll be sure that everyone would crave for something like it =)

If someone did something like that it would go by game score, seeing as the last two usally have the most points.

I dont think there should be any prizes
Crooked's idea and crooked's money so w/e he says.

This isn't so much a tourny as it is a ladder season. If we did it in this format and only had one game a month it would never end.

don't do it in this format then. just hold regular tourneys that span over 1 day. In fact, it doesn't even have to be tourneys, it could be like the ffas we use to have.

money won't help at all, look at what it did in the last tourney you tried. i mean, if he wants to shell out money for this, then let him. I'm just saying that you can get the same results if you made people actually more enthusiastic about tourneys

The problem is that FFA is drastically different than normal games so it isnt a good gauge to a players skill. I mean cmon, what other format do you see players use 40 gargs and steam tanks?

i say we do a tournament every saturday with whomever shows up, 2v2 one day, 1v1 another day.

The idea is good but why must tournaments always be on weekends? I'd join but I can't play on weekends!

If hes doing it by player score its a pretty acurate guage of one skill, and farming wont be a problem. Especially since FFA in most cases takes more skill then any other game type.

This a strategy game right. Well FFA takes half the mircro of solo, and two times the strategy.

Teaming should be allowed since its part of the minipulation factor of FFA, but any pre-teaming should count in a disqualification. Witch can be judged by replays.

And I like what AHappychineseboy offered that goes with Forged's idea, also good.

Let's make a FFA once per week or once per 2 weeks (if some people dont want it's ok for 1 week).

Lets give everybody points, and for the prize, we can leave Forged and Crooked decide. It's fine.

It wouldn't have to be an FFA every week, its just that FFAs are easyer to organize and work even if some people who say they can make it dont. Once we get more people comming out ever week it will be easyer to try doing 1v1 and 2v2 tournies. So expect FFAs at first, but once we get people comming regularly I think its safe to say that we'll be branching out.

I'm an active member here. ^.^

I like this idea a lot, but like everyone said it'd be a bit difficult getting people together, but I'd like to join in.

I never thought just doing solo with your opponent was that hard for you guys... really...

FFA? Gogo gargs + frosties = GG EVERYONE

Yes its a strategy game, but Im sure FFA still takes alot of micro like Solo, and its not hard to make strategy there, all yo uhave to do ismax out your hero lvl, get godly items, and mass tier 3 units and mix of tier 2.

Pre-teaming determined by replays.. it could happen accidentally tho, player 1 might attack player 3 while player 7 attacks player 3 at the same time, we'll never know.

Anyways, I dont think I can make it to FFA every week, probly once or twice a month? or none? I dont know..

And Im bit of neutral on this one, cant say no nor yes.

That is how the previous battleforums FFA's went. Not many of those have happened recently however. Everyone has all been caught up in getting a tournament going. I think swooper has the answer to that. We can't have tournaments with say the 5-6 people that post at battleforums, it just doesn't work. I think FFA's should be started up again (every 2 weeks), so that battleforums FFA's become more of a tradition again, but at the same time they do not become "routine".

When it comes to tournaments here the best possible solution is to just have random matches between people. You know all of those "undocumented" games that everyone plays? Those are what should be documented and used in "ladder" at battleforums. You don't need a tournament, just have it a casual, whenever you want to type of thing.

As the former staff member, I would always get people who would ask me to play games with them. It kind of got annoying sometimes, but I realize that if people were playing that much with me....that there had to have been more playing going on than simply between me and the members. Personally, I think that all games don't have to be documented, but if you are playing a semi-serious match, it should be I think.

There should probably be a tournament forum to keep track of all of it too.

We should make use of this stuff:

:
Game:
Rank:
Points:
Last Match:
Record:

;)

Massing necros is a stupid noob strat.

That is right, we dont even have to make it a tourney. I like it when Aragorn wa staff member, we had 1 FFA every 2 weeks, everybody enjoyed it more or less. It didnt matter whether we're 5 10 or 12. I also offer you:
- to have a FFA every 2 weeks, either every 2nd saturday or every 2nd sunday or alternate.
When we have more active mebers for solo, like 16 who can be online everytime it is needed , we can make a try with solo tournament. Forged wanted to make a new tourney, with money as a prize but nothing happened, we added inactive members and the tourney died. Before than I asked Pan and Forged to keep the tourney because in the one I organized before going to Germnay, that is the beginningof July, some were ready for round 2 only Samsara didnt play his match with Nevergoingback. We were from the active members so the tourney was going on, but they decided to start this unsuccessful new tourney with money.

About the tournament forum, Theroy or the admins.. or Forged.

Im not sure, but i assume that replays record private messages. it would be easy to determine that 2 players are preteaming if they discuss strategy with out first forming an alliance > alliances are meant to be broken.

thier not to hard to spot in ladder FFA's it should be even easier in our case.

replays only record what the person who saved the repaly saw and heard. messages between players that someone else saved, won't show up.

Doesn't anyone remember how I always got necros? And no one would stop me either. It was actually quite hillarious at the time, although most of you hated, no, loathed it.

It makes me want to get out WC3 to show you guys how powerful they are again. ;)
