Lets take a little look at Sony in today's news shall we.

d to use blu-ray disks. here is a little history lesson about sony. When the vcr were first being sold, much like DVDs ow there were several formats. Ever heard of the Betamax? Sony has also been pushing it's Blu-ray format for next gen DVD. PS3 is expecteVCR that only played Betamax. What happened? Do you own a betamax? Can you buy a betamax? That is what happened. It was sony who created it and marketed it. It was completely destroyed by the VHS everyone has.
further on formates Sony' mindisks have been a huge failure overall, and the PSP UMD format has been getting alot of negatve response, especialy from those that don't want to buy another Format of movies. WE have yet to see how this fairs, but Sony has had a BAD histroy with format wars.
PS3 and Metal Gear fans should note that MGS will return once again exclusvely for the PS3. HOWEVER The creater has gone on to say that MEtal gear will likely be made for other systems AND that he was disapointed with Sony on the PS3.
Lets turn to the PSP. The Nintnedo DS has sold 1 million units in Europe making 6 million wordwide. The PSP has yet to be launched in Europe. But get this, Sony is going out of it's way to keep the psp out of Europe. Sony has been trying to sue retailers selling imports. The "End to Nintendo's dominance in handhelds" sure has gotten off to a bad start. the PSP sales in the US were underexpectations, the PSP in europe has been delayed for 5 months, recently Nintendo has overtaken PSP sales in Japan along with poor PSP software sales and now Sony wants to block the sales of more units in Europe. Brilliant.
Xbox has followed a similar strategy, same wit the early PSP. It costs more to make then to sell. Xbox has only made a profit this year. This is all done for one reason: to put a consol in your home then make money off of accessories, internet (xbox live), and games. IfA recent study by financial analysts at Merrill Lynch Japan suggests that the PlayStation 3 may cost up to $490 dollars to manufacture, with the company predicting that Sony will launch at $399 and take a $1.18bn loss in its first year on the market.
