scmdraft and starforged are kinda the same but starforge can do litle more

xtra editor is like a beefed up version of the editor that comes with the game
guedit iss old and some what obsolete

Find ALL Editors Here.

The best ones are StarCraft X-tra Editor 2.5 and SCMDraft. SCMD has improved alot since the early versions, it is now MUCH better then StarForge. SCMD allows you to do both Square and Isometrical(normal, like in StarEdit) terrain, while StarForge only does Square.

SCMD is the best for just about any form of mapping, add X-tra in there and you can create killer maps.

Basically 3rd party editors allow u to do things the original couldnt, such as stacking minerals, stacking in general, placing cc's and starting points by minerals, etc. It also alows for square maps and paths and whatnot.
And i love ur spelliing.

The latest version of SCMDraft is found on the page that link I gave you goes to. It's the version I'm using and so far I've found no major bugs in it, not even little ones.

I use SCMD for terrain and unit/building/location placement. I then use SCXE for unit editing(stats, costs, etc...) and trigger/briefing editing. For me, SCXE is easier to use for triggers and unit editing then SCMD.

Third party editors are editors not created by anyone associated with Blizzard in any way, they're also not supported by Blizzard.

At one point SI created a table showing what each editor was capable of on stormcoast-fortress, however, I cannot find it. It may have been removed but it was very good for giving you an idea of what each editor is capable of. Your best bet is to try them all and experiment. I still use X-tra, XCM Draft, and StarForge in the creation of my maps because they're all good at different things.

ur spelling sucked. i was pointing that out. then i laughed. now i stoped. just nvm it.

- If them 3rd party editors arnt supported by blizz why dont they ban them, like hacks, even though they are the reason that all of the most amazing games and maps are around?

"Not Supported by Blizzard" does not mean they are against the use of it. It simply means that if you have a problem with a Third Party Program, dont contact the makers of the game for assistance, contact the maker of the Third Party Program!

im not against em im just wondering if they kinda considered it a hack type dealy.
As far as I know, they don't look at the other editors as hacks, infact I wouldn't be surprised if some of the Blizz staff actually use them, even though they don't really need to.

Anyway, back to working on my site... Soo much to do these days...

Gaia and Ride of Valkyries are in the Blizzard Sandlot tournament, and they've both been edited with StarForge for extended terrain (bridges and ramps in Gaia, huge ramps in RoV). Blizzard can't be too upset about them anymore.

Second news post down it lists the maps and the versions.

Blizzard isn't giving out versions of the maps, but PGT has all the maps listed I believe. Unfortunately the PGT site was hacked and is still down.

SC Legacy has one. Here is an old version of Gaia (WCG 2005). I think this one has the extneded bridges and ramps, but I'm not sure. Later versions definately did.

I'll try searching some other sites.

Edit:

An image of Ride of the Valkyries.
