well.. i double checked all modes and editors as best i could.
SCXE, GUEdit, SCMDraft, SF2.2.

i somehow have on most of my maps gotten Player 6 to be Green (color8).
however, the technical default color is Brown (color 5).

Is this just something special about Player 6 and the color green???
and that Green is a saveable substitute?

if not.. then wouldn't it be safe to say there is a way to
change/set all the team colors between editors???

im currently making a map right now with my Player6 as GREEN in
all the editors.
(which is GREAT as i want that player in THAT position in the Lobby)

Im hoping someone could tell me how this situation came to be and
if it's possible to save the colors instead of doing it once at the very
end... i like seeing my teams in their appropriate colors during my
editing.

sorry for being so picky. :usad

PS- let me know if im posting too much.

On Ice terrain, Player 7 is green. If Player 7 would be it's default color, white, then it'd blend in with the white snow terrain.
One Desert terrain, Player 6 is green. If Player 6 would be it's default color, brown, then it'd blend in with the terrain.
If you have custom player colors set by StarForge, Guedit, SCMToolkit, SCMDraft, etc, once opened on SCXE and Staredit, the player colors will be changed back to default.

P.S. - You're not posting enough;)

ONE MORE ABOUT TEAM COLORS

I guess the only colors that actually work correctly are
the basic 9 (this includes brown and green) and then
pale yellow, dark aqua, tan

i really wish the others would work... does anyone know
WHY the others dont' work correctly? is it something
inherent to SC?

wish that blue-grey would work... looks so nice on
SCMDraft then... BLAH ingame.

What do you mean they don't work? Like did you input a custom color for a player and when you played it on StarCraft, it was its default color?

A list of the colors:

The list will display speical effects, then the color number, then the leader board color.
Sorry for not writing unit colors, it is too time consuming and unimportant.
Please view this with Microsoft Notepad.
These colors were tested with Terran Science Facilites.

! means the units flash (type one).
@ means the units flash (type two).
# means there is no leader board color.
$ means the color flashes on the minimap (type one).

Terrain Notes

- In badlands, units that flash type one, flash shades of blue. Units that flash type
two, flash from blue to brown. In the minimap, colors that flash type one, flash
shades of blue, colors that flash type two, flash blue to brown.

- In space, units that flash type one or type two will not flash at all. Minimap
colors that flash type one or type two will not flash and will just be blue. Units
that have black in thier color will be "transparent". You can not see the tile
below them, but you will see the stars on them.

- In installation, units that flash type one or type two will not flash at all.
Minimap colors that flash type one or type two will not flash and will just be blue.

- In ashworld, units that flash type one or type two will flash shades of orange and
then grey for a few miliseconds. In the minimap, colors that flash type one, flash
shades of orange and then grey for a few miliseconds. Minimap colors that flash
type two will not flash and will just be blue.

- In jungle, units that flash type one, flash shades of blue. Units that flash type
two, flash from blue to brown. In the minimap, colors that flash type one, flash
shades of blue, colors that flash type two, flash blue to brown.

- In desert, units that flash type one or type two will flash shades of black, brown
and grey. Type two is brighter and does quicker repititions. In the minimap, colors
that flash type one or type two will flash shades of black, brown, and grey. Type
two is brighter and does quicker repititions.

- In ice, units that flash type one or type two will flash shades of grey. Type two
is brighter and does quicker repititions. In the minimap, colors that flash type
one or type two will flash shades of grey. Type two is brighter and does quicker
repititions.

- In twilight, units that flash type one or type two will flash shades of grey. Type
two is brighter and does quicker repititions. In the minimap, colors that flash
type one or type two will flash shades of grey. Type two is brighter and does
quicker repititions.

Additional Notes

- Leader board color and diplomacy color are congruent. If there is no color on the
leader board, the mini map color will be black.

- Unit colors are the same for each tileset. However, if a unit has an area that flashes,
the color of that area will depend on the tileset the unit is in. Minimap colors are
also the same for each tileset, but colors of flashing colors will depend on the
tileset.

- If a player is using a color other than one though eleven, the victory or defeat
splash screen may display yellow stars, or yellow skulls instead of solid bars when
counting the score. It may also display sections of the bar, or pictures of the race
the player is using that is displayed below thier name.

- Buildings owned by player 255 will not display in the mini map if you have vison in that
region. But when the area is explored and you don't have vison on that area, they will
flash type one. Players 65 and 68 did not have this same effect, so I don't know which
players do this and which don't.

- The first 107 colors have a pattern on the mini map color. After color eleven, the
next eight colors are shades of red begining from lightest to darkest. The next
eight colors are shades of blue begining from lightest to darkest. The next eight
colors are shades of teal, again, begining from lightest to darkest. This complies
with the default order of player colors (including players nine through twelve).

- A portrait of a flag has twelve "default" portriats. The portrait of the flag
depends on which player owns it. Assuming the colors are default, player one will
have a portrait of a red flag, player two will have a portrait of a blue flag, and
player three will have a portrait of a teal flag. By changing the color of a player,
you can change the portrait of his flag. After color eleven, flag portraits begin
to have portriats of other units. I don't know what the order of flag portraits are.
It does not comply with the order of units.

They work, they just look.. interesting. Black works, that's color 17 on GUEdit. Actually, I'll just write the whole key, for good measure.

Key:
00 = red
01 = blue
02 = teal
03 = purple
04 = orange
05 = brown
06 = white
07 = yellow
08 = green
09 = pale yellow
10 = tan
11 = aqua(neutral color)
After this point, may be different on different terrains
12 = pale green
13 = blueish gray
14 = pale yellow(same as 09)
15 = cyan
17 = black

They all work, it's just that they look weird sometimes. 13 is a glowing color, and 15 is a white staticy color. You just have to experiment to see which ones you like the way they are. If they're just completely not working, that's a problem with the editor.

Edit: Damn Lwek :p My 17 colors are just for GUEdit :)

oh... so they are dependent on the editor!
sheesh.. i was using SCMDraft and just used
the little tab thingy under map desciptions where you can change
the team colors.. then i loaded up the game to see...
then i remember i ditn get the nice pastels i saw in the
editor.. just the flashy black/red or flashy black/green
or... whatever....

i would like to get that nice pale green.
i'll mess around with the above... hope it works.

EDIT: WHAT I MEANT WAS the SOLID COLORS FOR UNITS
instead of the FLASHY mixed colors you get. I would like to
have some SOLID colors... not this flashy can't really tell
stuff for my units... as for what they look like on radar...
well.. that's not nearly as important as what the
units look like themselves (imho).

THANKS A BUNCH FOR THE LISTING.

oh.. and btw, which editor is smoothest for team color change?
in your opinion Azrael and Lwek ???

There are only 10 completely solid colors that I know of.

Red
Blue
Teal
Purple
Orange
Brown
White
Yellow
Green
Black

As far as an editor where you can see the changed colors while you're working on it, I couldn't tell you. For just general map work (nothing special like square terrain) I exclusively use X-tra. I don't care if I can see the final colors while I edit, so I use GUEdit after I'm done.

The first 12 colors are always the same. The rest are buffer overflows and can actually change depending on events in the map.
