The steam friend list - failed log in

The friend list in steam worked the first time I used it but now when i click on the sign in button it says failed. So i tried again and it says signing in but takes forever and doesn't say anything else.

Yeah, the Friends network isn't always up and running. It might be down for maintainance.

Rofl, Mine either. It just went. "Loging in..." and so on. How exacly does that work? I just decided to start playing Steam a little.

The steam network is a extremely large network that covers several thousand users. The friends network servers tend to crash or go down due to either large amount of connections, or regular maintence services but since i do not see any pattern in it going offline i doubt that it is due to maintence services.
