I saw "The Passion of the Christ", and I had mixed feelings. It obviously has some faults, but all in all I thought it was the most powerful portrayal of the last 12 hours of Jesus of Nazareth's life.
A) I really liked (in a way, if you know what I mean) the way that the man from the crowd helped him (Him being Jesus) carry the crucifix...and the two of them together could make it, as weak as Jesus was, but neither one was could do it alone. It's much like life now...I don't think I could make it through life without him to lean on, but with no one helping him carry the sins of the world, he couldn't hold it up.
B) I find it very interesting that it was the Roman governor who wanted to save Jesus' life, but the Jews, his own people, were the ones who wanted to kill him...the very people he wanted to save. Now some people who have different beliefs than I do may think that "God is stupid for letting the people he made kill his son". I believe in free-will, and I believe that Jesus fulfilled his purpose on earth...to die for all of the sins of the world. I believe he was sent to die.
C) Watch how many times Satan pops up in the movie. The demon under the bridge next to Judas under the bridge...the old woman in the garden with the pale face, and then in the crowd, with the child in her arms. If you watch closely, it seems as though Mary, Jesus' mother, and Satan are watching each other through the crowd...instead of watching Jesus. The last satanic part that I found was the children beating Judas and driving him crazy to the point of suicide...look at their faces.
What did everyone else think of the movie?
(Yes, because of it's religious nature, controversial issue, and likely flames, I believe this belongs in the Asylum.)
