i dunno if there is a thread about this floating around or not but just in case here's one...

i read online and saw in some magazines that they are making new versions of the ps2 which are smaller and come equpied with a built in broadband adapter but at the expense of no harddrive capability from what i've heard anyway. price of $150

any one else heard about this? if they do make new ps2s what will happen to the old ones? will they still be made or what?

Yes, somewhat old news but the *new* look PS2 will be much smaller and only wide enough so that the memory card and controllers can fit.

They will eventually phase out the old PS2's just like they did with the old PSX's. And seeing as my PS2 is dying on me, i will be buying the new looks PS2. Can't wait, i could almost steal the thing and put it in my pocket it's that small.

The Xbox controller is almost bigger than it.

it looks so ugly. what is it where people think that smaller is better. it starts with cell phones, smaller and smaller, till the point it is now where sure u got 10000 features on it, but you can't make any phone calls on it cause its to damn small it cant get reception..
where was I. ahh, it is a waste of energy that could have been better spent on creating PS3 instead of sucking as much money off of PS2.

I think it's a fine idea, who cares? Sony is the one wasting money and i'm sure it hasn't stopped them from designing PS3. They did it with the PSX so it comes as no surprise. And the PSOne shits all over the PSX.

I will be buying the new PS2 because my old one died.

the thing that does suck about it is that it doesn't have hard drive support. at least i am pretty sure it doesn't. if you play online games, HDD support is needed for some games (FFXI) and can make others go faster by downloading it onto the HDD. i dunno, my ps2 is dead and i need a new one, but i'd like another of the kind i have.

Playstation would not really work well with online games. They stopped making the Hard drives for playstations. PC and xBox is where the online games are now.

My father might be buying the new PS2 because ours is one of the first ones out, its quite outdated and I think something is broken inside it. The new PS2's are already on the shelfs.
