I figure there should be one dedicated topic for talking and discussing/arguing about all MMORPGs here, so that other threads don't go off-topic like they sometimes tend to do with the "omg [insert MMO here] is teh betterz than [insert other MMO here]111"
So come here to slam/advertize your MMORPGs.

I'll start by saying FFXI is my favorite. Most people slam it for being a constant EXP grind, but it's really not that bad. People only labelled it as such when WoW came out, because in WoW, you can get to level 60 in about the time it takes to get 1 job to level 30 in FFXI. I'm not dissin' WoW, I play that too, but I like a game that lasts a lot longer, and I like the job system of FFXI, and the story that was finally ellaborated on with the Chains expansion. Maybe when WoW adds some more level 60 stuff other than raids, I'll play that again, but for now it's FFXI.

Anyway, if anyone plays FFXI here anymore and wants to join a great LS with lots of gil floating around, PLs from most of the members, and almost every craft at least level 30, I'm on Fairy and we can hook ya up. If ya need a worldpass gimme a PM.

Guild Wars, nuff said.

Yes, I started playing in the very first Beta Test Event they had. For someone who has a psychotic hatred of RPGs and plays RTS more then he breathes to come to like and enjoy playing a MMORPG was one hell of a shock. I played Diablo and other RPGs for a few hours at a friends long before GW came out and I hated them all. I like to build a massive army and take on another massive army and come out victorious!

After playing in the first beta event because a friend just would not shut up until I tried it out, it changed my viewpoint on RPGs. Mainly because it had a kind of FPS style to it, at least I think so, and I love FPS! I was hooked on it and after three more events, I have a truly bitchin Warrior/Monk! Granted he still has the default clothes, but I'm savin up my cash to get a full set instead of running around with just boots or other piece thats different from the rest of the outfit.

With its release... ...sometime... ...it should be even better!

So after playing GW, I disided to check out other RPGs and I found Sacred. Like most games I own, I tried out the demo first to see if it was any good. Sacred has now replaced StarCraft as my favorite PC game. Six characters to play as, each with bitchin Combat Arts (aka spells, special powers, what the hell ever you want to call em!) and TONS of armor and weapons to buy! Tons of enemies to fight, everything from Goblins to Dragons to GIANT Spiders to Orcs and Ogres! The best part about it, an expansion pack is coming out soon! I haven't tried the multiplayer out yet, busy with single player. I still haven't beat the thing, and its been over two months since I started! :doh

I like both of these, and thats all that matters! :p

Guild Wars most definately.

If anything stunned me about Guild Wars it was most definately the graphics (at first). The landscapes and the water look so luscious and realistic! I was impressed with the choices you get when making your character, the ammount of hair colours, faces, etc. I also loved the amazing outfits.

As far as I know, Guild Wars is done by some people who also worked on Diablo II. Now, I used to -love- Diablo and for some reason, Guild Wars reminds me of it...maybe it's the entire atmosphere or something.

There's plenty of items and spells - and fighting is so much fun! My favourite class so far is the Elementalist; I like combining it with the Mesmer and trust me, it's a killer combo. Try Firestorm combined with Conjure Phantasm. *sigh* I like the combat system, and the skills system. I like the fact that once you make a decision you're not stuck with it. The only thing that bugs me is the crafting of armour. >.< It's kinda hard to actually get something done.

But I have to say Guild Wars has improved -massively- over the past few months. I like that little storyline at the begining. ^_^ It really added alot.

Now, compared to other games, or the impressions I've gotten from them...Guild Wars looks just as good and it's free! That means alot to me because I'm cheap and p2p games just hurt me. D:

The release date is supposed to be April 28, or sometime around there, and I can't wait.

Hey, just in case anyone'll be in the next beta event, here are my characters:

Eloanneo Kirimaya E/Me forget what level
Lune Sioreh N/Me9 or so

I been hearing alot about this game, I think Im going to buy it. I was also wondering, is it like diablo type of action, example : do you get to figth the monster in real time or is it like ffx1 like each other has to wait your turn to attack?

Not to sway the thread off-topic, but I've been meaning to try Guild Wars. Given my internet is about as reliable as a slingshot versus a giant monster, it doesn't look like I can play it. But I am getting that fixed, and I *need* to get into a new game besides Diablo II, and this one seems fitting. It's either that or FFXI, and really I've played one and not the other so I want to see why everyone likes Guild Wars so much. Most mentionable though, sexy members play it like Sweaty Ogre and Kitty.

Real time, duuuh. :p However, once you click on a monster, you can sit back, because it doesn't require you to click all the time to attack. One click selects the monster and your character keeps on attacking :p It's quite convenient for one's mouse.

N, I love you like my child, but Lineage 2 has got to be the most boring online game I've ever played. And, even worse: it costs money, unless you play on a crappy private server.

I don't like MMORPGS. They basically require you to give up your real life in order to actually remain competitive (Not that it's the fault of the programmers, but there's way too many obsessives online).

Online FPS's own MMORPGS. There's never a dull moment, you don't have give up your soul, and you can actually be good at it without dedicating millions of hours that you could have spent boning your girlfriend.

Yeah, but after he knocked him over with the slingshot, he cut off his head with a sword. Slight difference than just having a slingshot :p
