Team numbering

How do you guys group your army with team numbers on your keyboard????
Air/casters/meelee/ranged/heroes???

I fill up 12 with all units I have but if i have to cut a specific group apart like Sorceress then i hotkey them separately. I just tab through the groups if i need to use any specific spells.

Depends on the location of the game for me. Beginning, when creeping, I put everything in group 1, summons in group 2, and footmen in group 3.
As the game progresses, I put hero/melee in group 1, ranged/caster in group 2, air if I have it in 3, and things like Steam Tanks in Group 4.

same as torubu but sometimes i get my heroes in group 4 and i ALWAYS hotkey unit-makers like aviaries and barracks to 0 and 9.

hmmm....nice nice...i just put my heroes and meelee and ranged in 1 group and caster in the 2nd. sometimes i isolate the ranged!!!

too bad i dont =/ I put all the units in group 1 (total), tankers group 2, range 3, magical 4, air 5.

Heros are F1/F2/F3

wow thats very organized...so when you want to move them all you just use team 1?? and btw say you have a unit that is stray and you want to put him in a team....how do you do this?!?! i used to know is red alert.....but ive been playing wc without even knowing how!!!

I use ctrl 1, 2 for heros then according to type the rest of thenumbers. I may have in one 'control' a group of casters or melee like footmen\knights. When i move them i select them all to move or attack and later i group them and put them in the front or back.

yeah but say you have a healing hero and you want to heal a few units during battle...you have to group him with your other units right????? This way all you have to do is click on their picture!!

Yes that's right or to be more specific- you must select the healing hero with the group and see below who needs healing.However for example paladin: if you have him as ctrl2 and another hero as ctrl1 the hero ctrl 1 will be selected with the group and you wont heal.If you have pally as ctrl1 he will be selected and you can heal so use him as ctrl1

also, if u use tab button, it will go to other unit groups (i mean, in group #1, if u got like 2 ghouls and 3 fiends let say, and if u do tab, it iwll show fiends' face instead of ghouls, which means, if u had footiea nd preists, jus use tab then u can use preiest's dispel on something.)

yeah i know about TAB..but how do you group stray units into a group you already have??

Have the specific group selected. Hold SHIFT, and click on the unit (left mouse button).

put them together in groups of that certain type and dont try to mix units in a group

1: Melees with 1 or 2 ranged for me (Knights/Rifles)
2: Casters and ranged/air
3: Tanks/Mortars
9: Town Hall

Always useful to jump back home easily.

that is sort of similar to me x42bn6.....but where do you put your heroes?? im guessing with team 1....i think ill use F1, F2, and F3 to select my heroes. That just seems the best for controlling them!!

Also dont have two types of casters in 1 control you wont be able to directly cast with both types. Use for exapmle priests+rifles in 1 control or sorc and mortars not sorc and priests.

Tabs location on the keyboard eliminates the need to do this. It works fine when vollying between two casters.

And quiksilver, never keep your heroes seperate from the groups. Relying on too many hotkeys causes mistakes in moving, I can't tell you how many times I've missed a number thinking I hit it, and left behind a group.

ohh the heros will be grouped with a team...however i somewhat find it better to use F1 and F2 to controll each one individually...
